Subject: Sessions N/E UK ? From: terrier Date: 14 Mar 15 - 10:30 AM Hi, I'm off to Northumberland next week and would appreciate heads up for (especially music)sessions within driving distance of Wooler. Is there a list of N/E sessions on the web? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. |

Subject: RE: Sessions N/E UK ? From: Mr Red Date: 15 Mar 15 - 02:58 PM I think Northumberland is a bit of a clue. fRoots on NE England There are things in Newcastle, especially during Uni term time, what with their Folk Music course. The Byker pubs spring to mind. Mudcat threads - Sessions in Newcastle u Tyne & maybe notso appropriate Newcastle French dance/music session 2nd Sun.(UK) But information can go out of date overnight so ring first if ging a long way. There are people you could PM in the threads. |
Subject: RE: Sessions N/E UK ? From: GUEST,allan conn Date: 15 Mar 15 - 03:34 PM There is a "folk clubs north east" Facebook page if you are on fb. Some sessions just across the border but might be a bit far for you. G&A in Melrose has a session on Wed which is mostly Americana etc but everything welcome. Thursday night is Denholm Folk Club in Cross Keys run by Kenny Speirs. Friday two venue session in Kelso. Early singaround in The Planet, Kelso Ice Rink at 8pm. pub session in Cobbles Inn from about 10pm |
Subject: RE: Sessions N/E UK ? From: GUEST,guest Date: 15 Mar 15 - 07:13 PM The Northumberland Gazette always carries a list of sessions in the leisure listing section. Monday 16 march Session The Railway Inn Acklington (near Walkworth) 8 pm onwards. Not just Northumbrian tunes, it is similar to the Fleece session. The Fleece Alnwick is on 8 pm Wednesday 18th March. There is a Folk singing evening at The Coach Inn Lesbury (near Alnwick) 7.30 Thursday 19th March.I think the singing one is new. Not sure about the Berwick thursday sessions. |
