I'm no expert Les! I've tried the different suggestions made on other sites like ......
%%footer "4" which will print a number 4 at the bottom of the file in ABCexplorer but it will not let you save the file that way.

I imported one of the PDFs and could add a number manually by using the "Add Text" button - this will take you though.

There is going to be a solution - how did you do the other book?

Thanks Mike. We haven't numbered pages before - simply numbered each tune - which is easy but time consuming. I was hoping for a press two buttons - number all pages approach.

I sent you an email about editing the PDFs.

Why keep it private, Brakn?

Maybe others could learn from your expertise?

Sorry Guest - it was nothing much, just what I had put above.

I imported one of the PDFs and could add a number manually by using the "Add Text" button - this will take you time though.

In the "Page Setup" dialogue, click "Header and Footer". In the two small text fields below "Header", enter "$P0" and "$P1", respectively. In the larger text field in between, you can enter "The Beech Band Tune Book". Choose a font and the font size.

If you ask me how I know: I pressed F1 (- clever, am I not? -) and read in the help text:

Header and footer

The header and the footer are displayed on each page. Each one is subdivided in 3 sections: left-center-right.

To suppress page numbers simply clear the symbols "$P0" and "$P1". ABCexplorer adds these symbols by default.

There are various symbolic codes of displaying (date, file name, etc.). See the documentation of Abcm2ps.

You are welcome, Les. I have now found that "documentation of Abcm2ps" (not so easy to find!) and can give you further advice if needed. Just tell us where you want which numbers etc.

Thanks again Grishka, I can now add page numbers as footers - not sure why I couldn't do that before. I can also save pdfs with two tunes a page and then join up any number to make a "Tune Book".

All is well in "Beech Band Land"
