Making a new thread for this, as people mightn't read the Narrowboating on the Shannon one. What good sessions are available for Amos et al in Dublin August 21 and August 29/30 2015? I'll bring them to Hughes's, maybe - is that still a good place for music? Is there anything spectacular on?

Try the Cobblestone Pub in Smithfield.

Also, where are there good music pubs/sessions in the places along the Shannon between Athlone and Leitrim, between August 21 and August 29?

Re Athlone/Leitrim:

Sean's Bar in Athlone used to have good sessions - but is now mostly heavily amplified for tourists, as far as I know. Worth asking the staff there about options along the river.

Similarly, Glasson, just outside Athlone, and The Pigeons (I kid you not), a mile or two further out, also had weekly sessions. Both excellent pubs even without music!

Regards

p.s. Some fourteen years ago, Josephine and I were married - with celebrations in and around Glasson! On the day after the ceremony, we and our guests started a session in Grogan's Pub, in the village, at 2 p.m. The music and singing continued till 2 o'clock the following morning, non-stop. At that stage, the pub/restaurant manager appeared with trays of glasses and half a dozen bottles of champagne! "Now, will ye go home?" sez she, grinning!

Lanesborough - Clarke's (https://thesession.org/sessions/2661)
Carrick-on-Shannon - Cryan's (http://www.cryanshotel.ie/cryans-bar)
Drumshanbo - Millrace Bar, Tuesdays and Saturdays (086 3517726)
Ballinamore - Possibly Smyth's (http://www.smythsrestaurant.ie/)

There are several other pubs which host sessions but not within the chosen time-span.

Brenda reckons Hughes Pub in Chancery Street for the 28th. I like it.
