The Ottawa Valley, in Ontario, was settled largely by Irish, both pre- and post-famine. Their lively style of step-dance you can see here: Pembroke, 2013.

Nice! I've enjoyed watching and hearing April Verch and her band at live performances. That's been my main exposure to this style of dance. It's nice to watch others perform.

Come to Ottawa in summer, and see dancers busking in the By Ward Market. The tradition is very much alive.

I think April Verch takes a turn dancing in that clip - the petite one in the retro dress ....
