Subject: Scartaglen - American folk group From: GUEST,Janet Date: 04 Oct 15 - 04:41 PM I am trying to find on-line anywhere where I can hear the American folk group, Scartaglen sing "Will Ye Go to Flanders" I have searched on Youtube and on Google for the group but although there is a song on Youtube by Scartaglen, it is not "Will Ye Go to Flanders" Then I searched on Google for the group, and yes, there is information about the group Scartaglen but I could not find anywhere where you can actually here the song or even a sample of the song. There are a lot of other versions by different singers and groups covering this song and I have listened to just about all of them from Youtube - but alas, the one by Scartaglen is not there. This group disbanded long ago and singer Connie Dover was in the group back in the 1980's. She went on to release solo albums of her own after Scartaglen. This group had 3 LPs (and of course the song is on one of those albums) but not released on CD as far as I know. So I am really trying to listen to this group sing this one song in particular ONLY. If anyone can find a place on-line where you can hear Scartaglen sing "Will Ye Go to Flanders" please post a message. Thank you. |

Subject: RE: Scartaglen - American folk group From: cnd Date: 04 Oct 15 - 11:28 PM Off of their eponymous second album, released in 1984 by Kicking Mule Records, KM 327. That info's from here: http://www.discogs.com/Scartaglen-Scartaglen/release/6766157 Also, on that album, it's a "Will Ye Go" is the second song of a medley, the first song being "Starshell." I couldn't find that song, either, though. |

Subject: RE: Scartaglen - American folk group From: GUEST,Desi C Date: 05 Oct 15 - 08:27 AM P.S Completely forgot to say, the Scartaglen group I knew were definitely not American, they were mosty Irish living in the UK West Midlands area |
Subject: RE: Scartaglen - American folk group From: michaelr Date: 05 Oct 15 - 06:27 PM Different band, Desi. These were from the Midwest of the US. |
Subject: RE: Scartaglen - American folk group From: GUEST,Janet Date: 05 Oct 15 - 07:00 PM To Guest Desi: Oops, made an error in post a minute ago and I hit a key that posted it before I had finished typing. Anyway, the band I am writing about are an American band and definitely a folk band from the mid-west in USA and their LPs were out in the 1980s. Folk singer from mid-west Connie Dover was once also a part of the Scartaglen band before she went on her own to record. They recorded, "Will Ye go to Flanders" the song I am trying to find (this band's version) to hear somewhere but no luck as of yet. The band you are referring to from UK are not the same. |
