Nice songwriter he is.. At least he knows how to appeal to the market..

Barry McGuire who sang Eve of Destruction is also a member of the New Christy Minstrels, a folk group led by Randy Sparks. At one recent NCM concert, Randy said "I don't like this song" before Eve of Destruction.. But he sang with Barry on the song anyway.. The entire group sang it with Barry and it was wonderful memories indeed

P.F. Sloan & Steve Barri wrote "Eve of Destruction in 1965. They also wrote "Secret Agent Man,"also published in 1965. Also the hit by The Turtles and by The Mamas and The Papas, "You Baby (Nobody But You)."

Back when, Cassell Webb recorded a lovely cover of Jimmy Webb's tribute to the man. Webb's original is also on Youtube.

Songwriter P.F. Sloan died last night of pancreatic cancer. He wrote many songs, the best-known of which was the Barry McGuire hit "Eve of Destruction."
