Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Been a runner/sailor for 1000 years From: maeve Date: 10 Feb 16 - 10:01 AM Still available: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LP-VINYL-SEA-STORIES-millers-pond-1990-IRS-Aussie-Indie-Rock-promo-/151962872009?hash=item2361b168c9:g:b |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Been a runner/sailor for 1000 years From: GUEST,Mrr, amazed Date: 10 Feb 16 - 08:52 AM OK, I have checked with my Aussie relatives, and THEY have never heard of this album or band. And they did research. I am becoming more and more impressed that *I* once owned this record, even if it was on cassette tape. I may need to reconnect with Sean Haugh, the North Carolinian libertarian, who gave it to me way back when I stood up for him at his wedding. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Been a runner/sailor for 1000 years From: Mrrzy Date: 05 Feb 16 - 03:51 PM For lyrics of music, at least... you should see the lacunae, otherwise! (Or is that oxymoronic?) |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Been a runner/sailor for 1000 years From: GUEST,# Date: 04 Feb 16 - 05:43 PM Despite all that, Mrrzy, you have one heckuva memory. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Been a runner/sailor for 1000 years From: Mrrzy Date: 04 Feb 16 - 05:14 PM (The reason there were two threads is that, when the Lyr Req failed (which astounded me) I posed the Stumped challenge on the theory that *that* would bring some diggers out of the woodwork... and it worked, I *love* this place!) And I was right about the mondegreen, too - miner, runner. He's deeper underground than my imagery, when he's ashore. Weird how I had the sense that the imagery changed before remembering the lyrics with the different imagery, too! |
Subject: RE: I've stumped the Mudcat! From: Joe Offer Date: 04 Feb 16 - 04:24 PM #, I am in awe! I bow at your feet! I've closed Mrr's Stumped thread to avoid the confusion caused by bifurcating this discussion. |
Subject: Lyrics Add: Sea Stories – For 1000 Years - (1990) From: FreddyHeadey Date: 04 Feb 16 - 02:04 PM by Sea Stories – For 1000 Years - FOR 1000 YEARS (by Sea Stories) I've been a sailor for a thousand years Been a thousand years since I've seen the land Since I held your hand I've been a miner for a thousand years Been a thousand years since I smelled the sea Since you saw me And I will not fade away And I will not blow away And I will not I will not Walk away You've been a fisherman all these years It's taken all these years for you to see What was clear to me You've always been a hero of mine Always wrote the words that made me feel Sublime And I will not fade away And I will not blow away And I will not I will not Walk away And as the years grow colder Well those letters you sent Are getting older By the day And as the years grow longer Your voice in my head Is getting further And further away And I will not fade away And I will not blow away And I will not I will not Walk away ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sea Stories : Jeremy Honisett, Nick Wilson (7), Penny Hewson, Robyn Clark, Simon Honisett |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Been a runner/sailor for 1000 years From: GUEST,# Date: 04 Feb 16 - 01:58 PM Thanks, Noreen. Cross-posted with you. Anyone know why there are two threads on the same thing? |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Been a runner/sailor for 1000 years From: FreddyHeadey Date: 04 Feb 16 - 09:01 AM If you've got most of the words now could you post them in one block? How about recording an mp3 or YouTube even just humming the tune? Could you find any rock or c&w forums to ask on? And as Megan said, a date. It was a band rather than a solo? US or English? ... |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Been a runner/sailor for 1000 years From: Will Fly Date: 04 Feb 16 - 03:24 AM A naive suggestion - and one you may have tried already: can you remember any of the other stuff on the album, perhaps more clearly? If you can find the album, then the search for the song might be easier. But you've probably gone that route... |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Been a runner/sailor for 1000 years From: Mr Red Date: 04 Feb 16 - 03:17 AM is the Flying Dutchman part of this story? The must be parallels. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Been a runner/sailor for 1000 years From: Megan L Date: 04 Feb 16 - 02:48 AM Mrrzy if you could remember a year we might find it here song finder |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Been a runner/sailor for 1000 years From: GUEST,Mrr Date: 03 Feb 16 - 08:56 AM Plus, the lyrics I've posted are probably full of mondegreens. The title of the thread itself may be misleading. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Been a runner/sailor for 1000 years From: GUEST,Mrr Date: 03 Feb 16 - 08:55 AM Sigh. It's kind of rock-and-roll-y folksy bluesy, the rest of the album I liked much less except for a couple of songs later (probably one was #9, don't know why #9 tends to be best on an album, see Enjoy Every Sandwich), and it's the other songs I'm trying to get back to in my brain. The way I got to this one was rediscovering the album that had been on the other side of the tape, and re-hearing the last one on that album brought the first one on the flip side back to mind... I want an Inside Out experience where I can just go through my memories. I *know* it's in there somewhere. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Been a runner/sailor for 1000 years From: Jeri Date: 02 Feb 16 - 10:10 PM I haven't found anything either. I think it may require someone who's heard the song and recognizes it. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Been a runner/sailor for 1000 years From: GUEST,Mrr Date: 02 Feb 16 - 08:22 PM And as the years grow colder Well, those letters you read Are getting older By the day And as the years grow longer Your voice in my head Is getting further And further away OK, I have remembered all the lyrics. This has turned into a Who Is This Song By thread. |
