Subject: Tom Lane NYC 1969 From: Spleen Cringe Date: 07 Mar 16 - 05:05 AM A friend of mine has come across an acetate of demos made by a singer called Tom Lane - recorded in New York in 1969. He's done some research but can't find any information - there is a singer songwriter around called Tom Lane, but he says this isn't him. The demos are all original songs, performed on an acoustic guitar. He has the sound of someone who was aware of the whole folksinger/troubadour thing. He's almost certainly American but has a slightly Irish lilt to his singing. It sounds like he'd been listening to Donovan and Bert Jansch as much as any American contemporaries. Does this ring any bells for any of you that were around in the late 60s - particularly on the NYC scene? Thanks in advance for any help. |

Subject: RE: Tom Lane NYC 1969 From: GUEST,Spleen Cringe Date: 07 Mar 16 - 05:50 PM That's the same acetate my friend has. You found more than I did on the internet! Not convinced the other album by Tom Lane linked to it on Rate Your Music is the same guy, though... another site says "A whole album of potty humor... Twangy tunes about poop and farts and boogers and whatnot, with gems such as "Booger Time Blues," "Dirty Old Man" and "Here's To The Fart." Golly. How could I resist?" 💩 |
Subject: RE: Tom Lane NYC 1969 From: GUEST,# Date: 07 Mar 16 - 08:36 PM The release date of the 'Tom Lane' acetate was 1967. I'm wondering if this is the Tom Lane who was half of a songwriting team with Sharon Pulley (I think they married at some point). Flat guess on my part. |
