Subject: Cajon purchase ; help needed ! From: GUEST,bubblyrat Date: 25 Mar 16 - 01:01 PM I wish to buy a "Roland" electric cajon , but cannot find a supplier in the West Country ( Devon & Cornwall ). Does anyone know who is selling / supplying these things ? I hope to be able to accompany a guitar / lute player and teacher from Totnes whom I have not seen since we were both in Singapore in 1967 / 68 !! |
Subject: RE: Cajon purchase ; help needed ! From: Joe Offer Date: 26 Mar 16 - 03:01 AM OK, so Google tells me an electric cajon is this (click) but I still don't have any idea what an electric cajon is. I know what cojones are, but I don't think there's a connection. So, what's an electric cajon? -Jose- |

Subject: RE: Cajon purchase ; help needed ! From: Mr Red Date: 26 Mar 16 - 03:17 AM more a drum seat than a drum. They are loud and usual players haven't worked out volume. The idea of amplification fills me with dread. |
Subject: RE: Cajon purchase ; help needed ! From: GUEST,Phil d'Conch Date: 26 Mar 16 - 04:23 AM Jose: "So, what's an electric cajon?" You're spelling Cajón wrong there José. It's a type of South American "box drum." Peruvian percussionist, José "Pichio" Ballumbrosio It was once quite popular in the Caribbean as well but often played a la "hambone" with Djouba (Juba) style thigh and chest slaps mixed in. Any old wood packing crate or box would do in a pinch. Later, metal "biscuit tin" cajóns were a kind of proto-steel drum (pan.) |
Subject: RE: Cajon purchase ; help needed ! From: GUEST,Phil d'Conch Date: 26 Mar 16 - 04:40 AM bubblyrat: The above notwithstanding, searching as "electronic cajon" may even your odds (as opposed to "electric" &.) |
Subject: RE: Cajon purchase ; help needed ! From: GUEST,Jack Campin Date: 26 Mar 16 - 05:57 AM Google "amplified cajon". There are UK suppliers of the Roland EC-10. Dawsons in Chester may be the nearest to you. Ridiculously expensive. I made my cajon entirely out of recycled materials, the expensive bit was the Gorilla Glue. |
Subject: RE: Cajon purchase ; help needed ! From: GUEST Date: 26 Mar 16 - 09:15 AM A quick google shows many places to buy. Jack, Chester isn't very near Devon... |

Subject: RE: Cajon purchase ; help needed ! From: GUEST Date: 26 Mar 16 - 11:55 PM The electronic one sounds as bad as eletronic drums usually do, only cheaper sounding. The babe's costume indicates she is a really fierce player! She may play in Xena's band of women... I am sorry for the snark, but I think you should get a real acoustic one and learn to play it first. I LOVE micing cajons! But watch out - playing it sloppily could affect your cojones! Apologies for my irelverence. |
Subject: RE: Cajon purchase ; help needed ! From: FreddyHeadey Date: 27 Mar 16 - 04:36 AM It didn't work every time but their locator page found the music room Exeteron one try. http://www.roland.co.uk/dealer_locator/ I do hope this isn't a spam thread set up to promote cojons/Roland. |
