Does anyone out there have the chords for Greenfields, the old Brothers Four tune? The lyrics are in the database under "Once There Were Greenfields", which I don't think is right as a title; but anyway. I can't quite get the progression, which I am having to make up. I would use the record, but I seem to have an album cover and no record inside! Also, the sheet music is out of print, and there is no current compilation that includes it (according to my store). I can't find it anywhere. Considering it sold a billion copies in 1959, this suggests something about mortality and fame (cf. the tune in question) . Can anyone help? Yours, Peter

Here's the way I do it -- perish the thought !!

Once there were greenfields, kissed by the sun
Amin Dmin Amin A7

Once there were valleys, where rivers used to run
Amin Dmin Amin A7

Once there were blue skies, with white clouds up above
Amin Dmin Gmin A7

Once they were part of an everlasting love
Dmin Gmin Amin F7
Amin Bmin Amin Amin Dmin Amin D7
Enjoy !!

Just realized I forgot to double enter so the chords showed

below the right words. You can probably hear the changes

but if not, let me know and I'll repost. Sorry -- senility

and all that stuff !!

Thanks, Les, Gee this Web thing seems to work. All those pesky minors. But (if you have a second), it was the middle part that foxed me -- "I'll never know what made her go away, how can I ...", etc. I would appreciate that, if you have it. I am ridiculously grateful. Yours, Peter

Boy did I hit that senility thing on the nose !! I totally forgot there was a break in the song !! Let me work on it for a little -- but I feel as if the missing chords are lurking close to same progression -- Til later

Les

Dear Les, I am sure you are right about the middle. I ask out of laziness and greed. Yours, Peter
