Kelly, the boy from Killane / Kelly, el noi de Killane (rinxolsdefoc.wordpress.com) is a blog created for containing all the Luke Kelly songs I could find and some others of irish folk singers too. Till now there are some twenty but more are coming soon.

Titles you can find in are:
    - The night visiting song.
    - Song for Ireland.
    - On Raglan road.
    - As the rising of the moon.
    - Come my little son.
    - The black velvet band.
    - The town I loved so well.
    - The leaving of Liverpool.
    - The wild rover.
    - Peggy Gordon.
    - Farewell to Carlingford.
    - Fiddlers Green.
    - Scorn not his simplicity.
    - I am a rover.
    - The bonny shoals of herring.
    - Dirty old town.
    - The button pusher.
    - Will you go lassie go.
    - Foggy dew.
    - I hand me down my bible.
    - Dainty Davie.
    - Only our rivers run free.
    - The unquiet grave.
    - Kelly, the boy from Killane.

Great to see this, Marem. You've done a nice job.

I had suggested on a personal message that you might want to post your translations in this thread, but that might not be a good idea just now. The new Mudcat servers are not yet set up to handle "special characters" and diacritical marks consistently. Here's one song from Marem's Website. Let's see if it works:

Kelly, The Boy From Killane / Kelly, El Noi de Killane.

What’s the news, what’s the news, O me bold Shelmalier
With your long barrel gun on the sea?
Say, what wind from the south brings a messenger here
With this hymn of the dawn for the free?
Goodly news, goodly news do I bring youth of Forth
Goodly news shall we hear Bargy man.
For the boys march at morn from the south to the north
Led by Kelly, the boy from Killane.

Tell me who is the giant with the gold curling hair
He who rides at the head of your band.
Seven feet is his height with some inches to spare
he looks like a king in command.
O me boys that’s the pride of the bold Shelmalier
‘Mongst our greatest of heroes a man
Fling your beavers aloft and give three ringing cheers
For John Kelly, the boy from Killane.

Enniscorthy is in flames and old Wexford is won
And tomorrow the barrow will cross
On the hill o’er the town we have planted a gun
That will batter the gateway to Ross.
All the Forth men and Bargy men will march o’er the heath
With brave Harvey to lead in the van
But the foremost of all in the grim gap of death
Will be Kelly, the boy from Killane.

But the gold sun of freedom grew darkened at Ross
And it set by the Slaney’s red wave…
And poor Wexford stripped naked hung high on a cross
With her heart pierced by traitors and knaves.
Glory-o, Glory-o to her brave men who died
For the cause of long down-trodden man.
Glory-o to Mount-Leinster’s own darling and pride
Dauntless Kelly, the boy from Killane.

Quines noves ens portes, valent Shelmalier,
amb els fusells arribats de la mar?
Digues quin vent del sud porta un missatger aquí,
    amb el cant d'albirada llibertat.
Bones noves us porto als joves de Forth,

    Ah! fills meus, és l'orgull dels valents Shelmaliers;
d'entre els herois ell n'és el més gran!
Espetegueu ben fort i amb tres visques al vent,
per John Kelly, el noi de Killane.

    Ennyscorthy flameja i Wexford tenim,
demà creuarem les aigües del Barrow.
    Dalt del turó les armes ja hi hem col.locat;
podrem batre així l'entrada a Ross.

Canta: Luke Kelly. Traducció i adaptació: M.A.Santapau.

I put a Catalan page on my website (FAQ's) if anyone would like to cast an eye over it and maybe report serious errors. On-Line translations are getting better but it is bound to have errors.
The person who might have helped has been too busy and I surmise his fluency is at the same level as Babylon/Goggle (sic).
I met a Serb lass and a Slovenian guy so pages are there too waiting for another meet-up to see if they are willing to peruse those pages.
Mostly simple word/abbreviation explanations.

TIA
