It has been suggested to me by those nice people who run Mudcat, to start a new thread for Whitby Accommodation, I run a small guest house here in Whitby and have had a cancelation.

Gee, that looks like a great location (click). Am I correct in thinking it's within easy walking distance of most of the Folk Week venues?

Excellent for Spa, Metropole, Football Club and Rugby club. OK for the rest of the town.

Not this year, Jack. I see from this thread that I went to Whitby Folk Week in 2002. I hadn't realized it was so long ago. I spent almost a week with Micca in London, and then went to Whitby Folk Week and shared a rental house with Dick and Susan, and then spent time visiting Bill Sables, Ian Chandler, and Micca again. I met so many wonderful people along the way - and people made sure I got music every day.

Next on my list is Berlin. I want to rent an apartment there for a month, speak as little English as possible, and visit the places I loved when I was stationed there in 1972-73. I also want to spend a lot of time looking for music there. It certainly was fun to visit Switzerland this month I found lots of opportunities for German conversation there. Schwiizerdütsch was not as incomprehensible as people told me it would be. Certainly not as hard to understand as it is to understand Bill Sables when he's talking Geordie (lucky for me that Bill usually speaks English...).

THANKYOU to Mudcat, and also to the nice helpful comments by people.
This room has now been let, and strangely enough to someone I know, and who has been involved with the festival for at least 25 years ( God I feel old )
