Is anyone else awaiting the release of Ms. Rowling's new book? Mike

I enjoyed the existing Harry Potter books, and even more so the films, but this new one sounds as if Rowling is pushing things a bit. The whole series seems to have ended in a nicely rounded way, and now we hear that one of Harry's three children (Albus) has a curse of some sort. Also, it's been scripted into a West-End play and none of the original cast from the films is in it. It has had rave reviews (the play, I mean) I wonder if the poor child has been invaded by Voldemort in some way? (as in The Exorcist)
I do feel that, after all his amazing and horrendous adventures, poor Harry could have had a rather more exciting life than working in the Ministry of Magic.
Can't work up much enthusiasm I'm afraid. I reckon Harry Potter has had his day.

I mean the victory song from the ghost Peeves:

"And Voldy's gone moldy, so now let's have fun"
-- p. 746, Henry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

The play is being performed in London in two separate parts, thus doubling the price of tickets, which apparently have already sold out. The actual book in story form will be brought out later. This will be a nice little earner for all concerned. No doubt by Christmas the shops will be full of Cursed Child merchandise. I'm a bit cynical about the whole thing.

This version is about how Brexit means that only British wizards can go to Hogwarts (foreign students are banned) and genies, any mention of Aladdin and readings of 1001 Nights are forbidden.

Just finished it. Provided by my local library. Liked it enough to recommend that our local theater group should consider presenting it next summer.

The play last five and a half hours.
A bit long for some kids.

Curious she never remodelled a play as a book. Very few people read plays. Too much hard work filling in the stuff that is left to be imagined.

I imagine they'll get round to making a film, which should be a bit more accessible.
