David Blagrove was a professional narrow-boatman, and researcher into canal songs and folklore, he was a published author, and he was a folk singer of the old canal-based songs that he collected.

He was awarded an MBE in June 2014 for his promotion of all things to do with the canals of England & Wales.

One of hist first efforts was a now rare BBC LP about the fast disappearing life of the canal narrow boat-people.

David passed away sometime in August 2016.

He wrote a few canal songs too.
I emailed him asking a question and never got a reply.
His health may have been ailing for some time.

Not sure when he passed away but his funeral was at Stoke Bruerne on 24th August when he made his last canal trip with 300-400 mourners in attendance at the small church there.

According to obituaries posted on the Internet, Mr. Blagrove passed away August 12, 2016.
