Subject: David Blagrove - RIP From: GUEST,CJB Date: 07 Sep 16 - 01:48 PM A Stoke Bruerne character, and always willing to impart his knowledge. http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=86486 David Blagrove was a professional narrow-boatman, and researcher into canal songs and folklore, he was a published author, and he was a folk singer of the old canal-based songs that he collected. He was awarded an MBE in June 2014 for his promotion of all things to do with the canals of England & Wales. One of hist first efforts was a now rare BBC LP about the fast disappearing life of the canal narrow boat-people. http://www.waterwaysongs.co.uk/narrowboat_details.htm The LP can be downloaded here: http://www.waterwaysongs.co.uk/sounds/narrowboats_side_1.mp3 http://www.waterwaysongs.co.uk/sounds/narrowboats_side_2.mp3 David passed away sometime in August 2016. |
