Subject: recording sessions in Havana From: GUEST,keberoxu Date: 17 Dec 16 - 09:34 PM Inti Illimani, founded fifty years ago, is now two bands. Another Mudcat thread deals with the split, and I respectfully ask that remarks regarding the split and the problems around it be confined to that thread and eased away from this one. This thread will refer to one group only out of those two. This group calls itself Inti Illimani Historico, with three long-time musicians supported by three or four others who are young enough to be the sons of the former. In fact one of them is: the father and son pair are Horacio Salinas and Camilo Salinas. Presently this group is in Chile, but they spent part of the summer in Havana, recording their latest album called "Fiesta." Among other delights, they brought in Francisco "Pancho" Amat who is one of the great players of the Cuban "tres." |
Subject: RE: Inti Illimani Historico in Cuba From: keberoxu Date: 18 Dec 16 - 06:31 PM Another attraction in the upcoming year, as Inti Illimani Historico schedules events to celebrate its 50th birthday, is the Italian connection. Horacio Salinas has disclosed, in interviews with journalists this year, that the ties which the Chilean band has retained with the Italian musicians who befriended them during their years of exile in Europe, will be featured in their performances. |
Subject: RE: Inti Illimani Historico in Cuba From: GUEST,keberoxu Date: 18 Dec 16 - 08:08 PM At this moment I am listening to an interview with Inti-Illimani Historico. The video link, I will try to provide a blue clicky to it. It seems a recent interview, it seems to have been done after the recording sessions in Cuba, and somewhere in Chile. My written comprehension of Spanish is my best; listening to spoken Spanish is much harder for me! I despair of translating any part of it and printing it here. This is a detailed, long interview, so much so that it has been split up into two separate video files, all live, in what seems to be a radio studio. There are two journalist/announcers in the room, and four members of Inti Illimani Historico. I recognize Horacio Salinas, guitarist and music director, who does much of the talking. Jose Seves is visible; I don't see Horacio Duran. Two of the youngsters are there. Oh, they'r playing live, they stopped talking! I'll be back.....I hear Jose Seves singing. Hasta luego. |
Subject: RE: Inti Illimani Historico in Cuba From: keberoxu Date: 18 Dec 16 - 08:15 PM "Hay que dar una batalla por la civilidad" Beware, there is an English-language commercial at the beginning, it is a couple of MINUTES long and I don't see any way to skip past it. |
Subject: RE: Inti Illimani Historico in Cuba From: keberoxu Date: 19 Dec 16 - 01:23 PM Santiago Chile will be the site of Inti Illimani Historico celebratory concerts right after New Year's Day. Along with Pancho Amat, Cuban devotee of the 'tres,' the concert will include Italian musicians Roberto de Simone, Massimiliano Steffanelli, and Giovanni Mauriello. |
