America's sweethearts of the 1950s were Debbie Reynolds, Shirley Jones and Doris Day.

The first to go is Debbie Reynolds, one day afer her daughter Carrie Fisher.

It's not surprising but it is incredibly heartbreaking.

She was a solid performer all her life, but nothing matched her performance in Singin' in the Rain in 1952, at the age of 19. I could watch that wonderful movie over and over again.
Rest in peace, Debbie.

Always remember Debbie in my childhood singing 'Tammy' on the radio:

Here's Debbie giving a wonderful performance on the tv show "What's My Line" back in 1954!

Sparkling Debbie

I was always getting Debbie Reynolds mixed up with Shirley Jones for no good reason, must have something to do with "Oklahoma!"
Shirley MacLaine wrote with affection about Debbie Reynolds in one of her volumes of memoirs.

Gosh, Jim, I remember that sentimental owld song in my little-boyhood too. I just watched the whole thing from your link and got right to the end before realising that the bloke was Leslie Nielsen!
