I've had the good fortune of hearing a few exciting performers based in Galway-Clare perform at a coffee house and elsewhere in southeastern Mass., USA (John Colfer, Stuart Cowell, Judy McKeown, Maria Tecce, Bill Carson). Can anyone recommend a web site that might include Midis, news, etc., for music of that region?

Also anxious to hear Andy Dowling, dulcimer player praised by John McCutcheon, who I think is in Connemara area. Anyone know of recordings?

I've seen a website somewhere for John Colfer who I used to know when he lived in London. I'll search for it and post the details when I find it again.

Thanks to your help, Mian, I'm off to an armchair travelogue, or whatever, hoping for some vicarious on-line facsimile of a night at Green's in Ballyvaughan. If ever there were a Mudcat fleadh, I'd read the thread with great interest.

What is an armchair travelogue?; Many's the time in Ballyvaughan, but never had I a vicarious on-line facsimile of the place.

B: If the point is that the phrase is tortured, it's well taken. Thank you.

No, actually, I have never heard of either of those two phrases. I'm afraid last night I was in a strange old mood.
And it seems I managed to annoy some people. Un fortunately my sense of humour does not quite grab some people the way I intend it to sometimes, and for that, to you Markf, to you Wolff, and anybody else that I unintentionally pissed off or insulted yesterday evening, I now ask for your forgiveness, because I genuinely didn't mean to demean anyone.

Breandán.

There now, that's me not paying attention, It's Guy Wolff.
Sorry again old bean.

B: Armchair travelogue's what they call it down to the Council on Aging when someone comes in with a slide show. As for the rest of it: a bowl of fish chowder and a plate of crab legs from a certain pub overlooking the water in Ballyvaughan would really hit the spot. As this is out of reach, I'd settle for whatever vicarious experience I'd find at the Web sites Mian was kind enough to furnish. If a live session at Green's in Kinvara is impossible to hear at the moment, I'll accept an audio clip off the Internet as a reasonable facsimile. So let's raise a vicarious pint; it doesn't slake the thirst, but hangover facsimiles are easier to endure than the real thing.

Markf

Just in passing... The pub on Ballyvaughan Pier (Monk's) has just been sold! Mind you - its been bought by the owners of another well known hostelry in the area (Burke's of Clarinbridge) so should be safe enough. Many's the crab/lobster/mussel/prawn/oyster has been washed down in the same pub!

Regards
