Subject: RE: Chapel en le Frith - Sessions etc From: GUEST,Ray Date: 18 Jan 17 - 01:36 PM Jack - the last bus from Chapel to Buxton leaves at 13 minutes past midnight unless you want to go on Sunday in which case its half an hour earlier - is that late enough for you? |

Subject: RE: Chapel en le Frith - Sessions etc From: FreddyHeadey Date: 18 Jan 17 - 06:38 AM Ooh, Chapel en le Frith, Chapel en le Frith, Chapel en le Frith. I love saying that. Sounds so exotic. I can see the palm trees... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is The Session page for Chapel https://thesession.org/sessions/nearby?latlon=53.32089461357196,-1.9308903111062818 Best folky website for round there might be http://www.pyramidfolk.co.uk/index2.htm but I think Chapel is SK23 You might find some links on this map but it is mainly for north Staffordshire www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?&mid=1rYM8KCgNpRZWIBHWB0fQQtshLzs instrumentals would be blue or green pins |
Subject: RE: Chapel en le Frith - Sessions etc From: GUEST,Marc Date: 18 Jan 17 - 05:50 AM Thank you Ray; and, thank you Rachel. I might be there permanently from late March - still undecided about the move but a warm welcome for me and my fiddle is a box that definitely needs to be ticked. Marc |
Subject: RE: Chapel en le Frith - Sessions etc From: GUEST Date: 18 Jan 17 - 04:46 AM Hello Marc, There is a tune session at Glossop labour club every Friday night from 9pm where a novice fiddle player would be made very welcome. I'm usually there with my concertina. (http://www.glossoplabourclub.org.uk/activities.html) Also Old Vic Stockport 2nd and 4th Wednesdays You might also be interested in the Beech Band - they play from tune books so good for beginners who don't have a million tunes in their heads yet. http://www.folkatthebeech.org/ Rachel |
