Just downloaded Alasdair Roberts performing on last night's BBC Radio Scotland Quay Sessions. Does he always sing out of tune???

There are a couple of clips here.

The Quay Sessions BBC Radio Scotland
16 Feb 2017
"...Acclaimed and innovative singer/songwriter Alasdair Roberts will be performing original songs from his latest album Pangs with his band. Meanwhile, Siobhan Miller, who has twice been named Singer Of The Year at The Scots Trad Music Awards, will showcase songs from her second solo album Strata. Strata features a diverse array of traditional and contemporary songs reflecting her musical upbringing."

If I hear something a bit out of tune I'll try to enjoy something good about the performance or skip to something else, leaving others to their enjoyment.

You could at least have spelt his name correctly - it's ALASDAIR.

Name spelling corrected in thread title. It had been spelled "Alistair Roberts" in the thread title, but note that the original poster corrected the spelling in his first post.

Funnily enough I've just listening to, and enjoying, a fair bit of his work. Both on spotify and youtube

Love his voice and especially with the Furrow Collective. Best 'Long Lankin' I've heard and knocked out by his 'Outlaw on the Hill'. Great traditional singing voice.

another example of spiteful anonymous cowardly Guests.
Bonzo, asked a reasonable question, I went and listened to another clip which I enjoyed, so the answer is no.
anonymous guest, get lost

Alasdair Roberts is a major, major talent, sort of a young Robin Williamson but yet his own man. His talents as traditional interpreter and poetic songwriter are really staggering. Yes, he can be demanding, but he is also more than worth the effort.

I just went to YouTube and listened to three of Alasdair's tracks, and they were all nicely in tune.

Keep in mind that "in tune" is not as easy to define as most people think.

I've never heard him sing out of tune at innumerable gigs of his I've been too. And not noticed him sing out of tune on any of his 9 (or so) albums. Not heard the session you're talking about. Suspect he's probably not singing out of tune. But I'll have a listen now just to be sure.

I suggest that you listen from 1hr 23 mins - the fiddle is not in tune with the guitar, and Alisdair is singing slightly sharp of both of them. In short, it's awful.

Siobhan Miller, however, who performed first was excellent.
