Vera Lynn songs. I don't know anything about her, but am aware of some iconic songs from WWII, and they still pop up in modern programs to evoke that period.

when I as growing up we had a mono LP, b&w photo of her with troops, but I can't find it on a google image search, so maybe it was an small Australian issue.

I heard an interview with her where she was asked if she would be drinking a glass of champagne. She said she would, but that 'they' would dilute it with lemonade, and she would have to make sure they didn't water it down too much. What is going on? How patronising - she is 100, not 10. Surely she can drink neat champagne (we are not talking about strong spirits, are we?), rather than having it ruined by some goody-goody 'carers !

Vera is physically frail but mentally as strong as an ox - and alive and well and living in Ditchling in Sussex (where the ceilidh band I play in is based).

She was the guest of honour at the Ditchling Fair (held every 2 years and at which we play for the dancing on the church green) in 2014 and looking very down to earth and alert and on the ball.

Long life (even more) to her!
