People aa aroon Scotland an farther aff lamentit Education Scotland's zappin o the Scotland's Songs website at the turn of the year. The Scots Language Centre promised to resusitate some at least of the pages by Easter, but no sign or sound yet. So, having creator's rights in the material, I have reworked my Scots Sangs Fur Schools website to include a good slab of the material for Primary schoolkids and younger, with performances, lyrics and notes about the songs, but sadly not the music notation. I have hopes of putting up the Secondary Schools level material on a separate site when I can. Tried to make a blue clicky but defeated once more - I keep doing something wrong. Sigh. A search for scotssangsfurschools will find it.

Well done Ewan: it was a pretty gobsmacking decision. If you need help with music notation, pm me. Trish

Why did they abolish the Website, Ewan?

New brooms redefining aims and targets, clearing out older material, sharpening up objectives and rearticulating objectives. Stuff like that.
No sensible explanation was given, just management gobbledegook that added up to 'we felt like making a change, to show that we as managers are doing something that looks different from what the previous managers did'.
Oh, how cynical I am - or is it that I have observed well the ways of the world?

Ewan, just take (re-take) possession of it yourself! Such a valuable resource is not to be ignored or dumped! If it needs money to keep it going, then crowdfunding would be the way to go!

There are hard copyright issues re the many recordings that stop me to taking it all on myself. People and labels gave specific permissions re use.
However, I've just had a reassuring message from the Scots Language Centre that they are working away on it, and sooner or later the bulk of the Scots material will be back on line. I've no idea re the Gaelic material though.
