a few years ago there was a bit of a stushie when a couple of garage mechanics noticed the google earth camera recording car/van passing the end of their road- - they anticipated the route it would follow while filming and they quickly set up a scenario where one 'murdered' the other with a big tool as the camera was passing next time, then the 'murderer' made off leaving the 'body' lying on the street, 'murder' weapon discarded nearby.........and this whole scenario actually appeared on goggle earth for a wee while- until there were so many people contacting them and police to report the 'murder'----!!!!!
(I saw something on the news at the time, don't think it is an urban folk tale?)

I would have been better off checking Google Earth a couple weeks ago when my GPS (was using Wayz) sent me down a road the turned into an unpaved, rocky one, and then ended. I did report it, but there's no button for "there is no there there" so I sent a message. And my car is currently having its exhaust system & catalytic convertors replaced, courtesy of GEICO (whom I LOVE). Maps are nice, but things change faster than they can keep up with, GPS is OK if you keep it updated, and Wayz is an app that works nicely if you use it for highways. Google Earth is better than these, but I will love it when I can look at a live satellite feed.

23 strathallan park Rochester ny

that brings me to the gothic evening in paris mansion in which all the most bizarre phenomena in my life happened. That is also where the mysteries of cosmology began for me.

I have yet to try x ray maps and other advanced features

when I want to find a location. We are off to Gennetines, a dance festival in in the middle of rural France and I have taken Goggle Earth screen shots of certain junctions, because I don't trust a SatNag - it will insist we go past the actual location on the other road. Or get off the Motorway early.
In ungfamilier territory it is a boon to be able to go there visually so that on the day we can identify turnings.

Having said that, there are numerous junctions that allow you to exit but not enter. And no reason for it, especially when you get there. It is a bug that craps-up (sic) time and again.

Ages ago we tried to look at my husband's old home area in Adjame (part of Abidjan) on Google Earth, but there seemed to be a thick cloud over the region, and much of it was obscured.

I take a look at my own neighborhood occasionally, just to make sure the zombies' front lines aren't getting any closer. Google Earth is much safer than reconnoitering in person.
