Just a wee reminder that it is now just over two weeks until the Kelso Folk Festival. I have attached the programme! Breabach and Jenny Biddle on the Friday evening - then Northern Company and Tom McConville on the Saturday evening. Workshops and sessions on Saturday as well as a free concert in the Old Parish Church from 12:00 noon until 14:30. As well as putting up with me there will also be Martin & Liz Marroni; the Blackthorne Ceilidh Band; David Kilpatrick; Ron Hastings; Geoff Ross and Cindy Stirrat; David Mullen & Pete Gillespie; Douglas Downie, Bee and Andrew Hunter.

Will there be venues without microphones, amplifiers and speakers?

Not for the main concerts Guest. Also the Open Mic in the Cobbles on the Friday night after the Breabach gig will likely have the sound system up. However for the other sessions yes! From 2.30pm to 5pm on the Saturday afternoon there is to be a Jigs and Reels trad tune session in the Old Parish kirk and at the corresponding time there is a singaround in the Queen's Head. On the Sunday the only event on is a farewell gathering in the Oak Room of the Cross Keys though a word of warning there is no parking in the centre of town on Sunday because of the Tour of Britain. No restrictions on the Saturday afternoon.

Thanks for that. Not a great fan of amplified folk. Just an auld fossil.
