2017 will be the thirtieth anniversary of when Malcolm Story invited Mo and I to run Singarounds at Whitby, although in that first year we only did five nights subsequently we did all seven nights in the week and Malcolm called the marathon singaround and so it has been known ever since. We began in The Plough but after Sam Smiths Music ban we have been made very welcome in The Rifle Club where we shall be again this year. It.s a friendly atmosphere with no rules except hush when some one is performing and only enter or leave in between spasms. Any thing goes songs, tunes, poems, monologues trad. or contemporary. Every one is welcome inclulding children (with a suitable or even unsuitable adult). So climb the hill and come ans join us. Joe & Mo.

I forgot to add we start ta eight o clock and it is a free event but we do pass a collection box round for festival fundsò

Needless to say the Festival programme has not been brought up to date, according to that you're still in your 26th year and the licences who actually left the Endeavour over 3 years ago are going to welcome people back.

I don't usually go to singarounds, but can only do so much dancing these days and still enjoy it, so I came once. thanks for letting me sing (you may have noticed that after the second round the number of 'songs I have sung in public' had doubled.

Congratulations to Joe & Mo - another fine contribution.

Just noticed the post by Raggy regarding the programme.

You are correct of course, the programme is a complete dog's breakfast and reflects very badly on the festival.

Unfortunately the person who is responsible for it is a knowall who listens to no one and ignores any criticism because he knows best.

For some strange reason the directors put up with him.

A separate thread either here or on facebook might help.

Unfortunately here, as with some other festivals I could mention, any offers of help from capable folks with good experience and proven expertise are routinely rubbished, or to best ignored, by those who "know best". Say no more...

Hi Joe

My first brush with Mudcat was about 15 years ago when in response to a request for information on the campsites (we had three at the time) I, in common with most people used a nom de plume.

In that case I logged on as The Horses Mouth which I thought would be sufficient to indentify me whilst keeping to what seemed the norm.

I gave a very detailed explanation of how the sites operated.

The very next post came up with the response of "what the F... do you know?"

I did not bother to reply and have been very selective in my involvement since seeking only to correct any mistakes to prevent them from becoming facts.

Hello Joe,
The first Guest post of earlier today ("Comments") was me. I don't make a habit of posting anonymously, and I totally agree with you that "guests who make critical posts should identify themselves".
When I got back onto the site this evening I found my cookie had disappeared (this happens occasionally doesn't it? but I didn't spot it at the time I posted earlier), so have just reset it and it seems to be working again now.
