Subject: Hear me From: kendall Date: 17 Dec 99 - 02:37 PM Some of us have discovered a neat program called Hearme, and, there were half a dozen or so last night talking and singing to each other.. love it.. lyrics are easy to come by, but, if you dont read music, such a program is just the ticket. |
Subject: RE: BS: Hear me From: Bert Date: 17 Dec 99 - 03:57 PM Where can this beastie be 'discovered'? |
Subject: RE: BS: Hear me From: Áine Date: 17 Dec 99 - 04:10 PM Dear Bert, Go over to the Online Jamming with Hearme.com!! thread and there's a lot of information there. Max has set up a pop-up box to Hearme.com, too. We had a GREAT time last night singing and talking! Let's see, we had representatives from Wales, Australia, Maine, Texas, Arkansas, Canada -- those are just a few of the ones I remember. This is some fantastic stuff! -- Áine |
Subject: RE: BS: Hear me From: Áine Date: 17 Dec 99 - 04:23 PM Never mind the pop-up box -- Max has changed to a link instead - go to his message around 3 pm. on Dec. 17th., then click on 'Try It'. -- Áine |
Subject: RE: BS: Hear me From: Jon Freeman Date: 17 Dec 99 - 04:27 PM There were a few small problems (mentioned in the other thread - BTW, trouble with that thread is trying to post there starts the program) but I thoroughly enjoyed last night. I'd have loved to see those that tried to hold the F9 key down with their toes to play at the same time performing. Jon |
Subject: RE: BS: Hear me From: alison Date: 17 Dec 99 - 10:01 PM Max has fixed that now... you have to click n the link further down the thread to open it ..... I'm there at the moment slainte alison |
Subject: RE: BS: Hear me From: Emmie Date: 18 Dec 99 - 12:25 PM I am going to join in tonight, it was such fun the other night but I had to go to bed boo hoo. I think it will become a weekend only pastime as still managed to oversleep the next day!! Can anyone give me advice on putting in my mike. I have virtually no sense about these things and don't even know where my soundcard is. Emmie |
Subject: RE: BS: Hear me From: longhair Date: 18 Dec 99 - 12:36 PM hate I missed it last nite. Am up in the hills doing Christmas. Maybe I can catch y'all Sun... longhair |
Subject: RE: BS: Hear me From: kendall Date: 18 Dec 99 - 04:13 PM Emmie, the jack for the mike should be in the back of your computer..it is marked Microphone. Your soundcard should be inside the computer. If it's not...you are S.O.L. Hope to hear you on line tonight |
Subject: RE: BS: Hear me From: Emmie Date: 18 Dec 99 - 05:53 PM I've done it now. A friend helped me but thankyou. I am very excited now ooooooh what shall I sing. Emmie |
Subject: RE: BS: Hear me From: GutBucketeer Date: 23 Dec 99 - 12:10 AM Very quiet, or I'm just not catching people at the right time. Is the initial thrill wearing off? JAB |
Subject: RE: BS: Hear me From: Áine Date: 23 Dec 99 - 01:46 PM No, JAB, I don't think the 'thrill is gone' -- but, with Christmas here, perhaps we're a little busy to sit down for a long chat. I'm betting folks will be back after the holidays. -- Áine |
Subject: RE: BS: Hear me From: Jon Freeman Date: 23 Dec 99 - 03:52 PM I think that the Mudcat Radio is also likely to take a few of us to ICQ rather than hearme. Personally, I would rather be typeing than talking when it is on and prefer ICQ for that but more importantly, RealAudio and hearme don't appear to go to well together and I know that Alison has had quite a few system crashes because of this. I also had a crash in the middle of MCR last night when I was trying to run the 2 together but it is the only time that has happened so there may have been other reasons. I have mixed feelings about hearme. I love the song circles that we have had and hope that we manage many more of them and I also enjoy actually talking to people but in someways, I prefer the type and although I know this can be done on hearme, as I mentioned earlier, I prefer ICQ. I find that the conversation tends to flow better with the typing. I think that this is partly because it is possible (or a lot easier) to have more than one conversation going at the same time. I also find that with the typing, I have time to think about what I am going to say next whereas with the voice, there tends to be long pauses for this reason, plus at times, people are waiting to see who is going to speak next (and we also get the opposite where you can't get in to speak). This is just me but I also feel a little uncomfortable in readme in a 1 to 1 situation. I had hoped to be settling on 1 place to chat but the way I see it, I will continue to use both of these services. Jon |
Subject: RE: BS: Hear me From: alison Date: 23 Dec 99 - 07:49 PM I tried hear me yesterday (from Max's link)but it wasn't working...... I'm off to ICQ now slainte alison |
