I'm puzzled as to why the is thread was closed, I posted twice forgetting to put my name.....which is force of habit for me as I never used to have to sign in, but it could be a very interesting thread and I'm sure Johnny J will be as puzzled as me...Ake.

Strange.

I can't think of any reason. It certainly didn't seem to be getting out of hand, although I hadn't necessarily intended it to become a list of singers either good or bad.
My main purpose in starting the thread was that I sense that there is less interest in singing in general among men in traditional and folk circles and I was wondering why?

Good question GUEST,akenaton and I agree with your comment above Johnny J. I was actually in the middle of doing a bit of research from personal experience on the interesting topic you raised.

Yes GUEST observer, it could be a very interesting subject, is it to do with a change in society away from traditional subjects, like the travelling life, or work ethics? Does the female interpretation suit the "new society" better.........

Does the closed thread still exist? If so, can you provide a link. I don't seem to find a recently closed thread when I put "Female" into the search box and set it back a couple of weeks.

It's on this page Doug...."Is singing now the preserve of women"
Instigated by John J.

Thanks.

This thread title said "Female" - I never thought of looking for "women". I'm easily confused.

Hi - I can't figure out why it might have been closed. Could be that I'm the guilty party. The "close thread" link is in an awkward position on a cellphone, and it's very easy to close a thread without realizing. I make a point of insisting that music threads that are closed must have an explanation for the closure. If a music thread is closed without explanation, please contact me.
There's a different policy for closing threads in the BS section, and I have nothing to do with that.

Joe, if you read this thread all the way, you'll find it wasn't closed. Akenaton simply couldn't find it because he was looking for "female" instead of "women".
Well, it was closed until I reopened it. And as I said, I may have closed it myself by a false move of my stubby fingers.

But since THAT thread has been found, I'm closing this one.
Repeat
Is singing now the preserve of women?
