Subject: Lyr Req: wine dark sea spreads rosy fingered dawn From: GUEST,Feebar Date: 06 Jun 18 - 08:26 AM Hi all, At the Góilín singers’ club in Dublin last week, I heard the most beautiful English folk song, which contained the lyrics, ‘the wine dark sea spreads the rosy fingered dawn’, in the chorus. Can anyone help, please ? Many thanks Feebar |

The term 'wine dark sea' occurs both in the Iliad and in the Odyssey, but the rest of the sentence seems to be from Wilson herself. |

You can find the lyrics in a Góilín song and walking tour booklet here: Down By The Liffey Side - Traditional Singing and Walking Tour, 2015 (pdf). The song is on p11 with note sung by Luke Cheevers. It's on Robin Laing's album Edinburgh Skyline (amazon link) Mick |
