Also, radio programmes are only available at a mere easyjet 96kbps, unless it seems a vpn used, about which I know nothing!

I use youtube-dl or get-iplayerto download BBC radio programmes so no need to sign in.

I just tried ffmpeg for downloading live BBC1 and it doesn't work from Spain.

If you're talking about radio, there's no problem although the BBC make you sign in these days so maybe you need a UK address?

I certainly could access it easily in the Irish Republic.

As for TV iplayer, why would you bother?

I seem to remember being able to download the Archers Omnibus in Arizona a couple of years ago.

We spend 3 or 4 months every winter in our campervan in Spain and Portugal. I've never had any trouble accessing iPlayer Radio in Europe. The TV version is not accessible outside the UK, but then I don't even own a telly so I'm not fussed about that.
I use a local data SIM card for my iPad, usually Vodafone, its dirt cheap and the coverage in Portugal makes the UK look like a third world country. Spain is more expensive but the coverage is just as good.
I've tried the new BBC Sounds app but I don't find it very user friendly.
Roger
