Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Steve Chatterley, stalwart of the Lancashire folk scene for many years, passed away on Christmas day. Many will know Steve as resident of a number of clubs and for his fine compositions reflecting many aspects of Lancashire life. He had been ill for a long time but took a downturn with dementia some months back and had to be taken into a care home.

I shall post details of the funeral when known.

Steve is another friend that I never had the chance to meet. He was another of the folks who keep our music alive. Thank you Steve.

Thanks Peter. And thanks for mentioning both Steve and Carol on the in memoriam thread. Carol passed away in September 2012 and it is nice to believe they are reunited.

Just been passed the following message

Steve's funeral is on the 23rd January 2019 at 4pm at Howebridge Crematorium, Leigh and afterwards likely at a pub called the Gardners Arms. They're not certain about that yet as they need to speak to the landlord about food and live music.
There wont be a newspaper announcement etc. No flowers.
Pat would like any donations to go to Padgate Healing as Steve liked to go there. Lesley would like donations to Altzheimers charity because Steve isn't the only family member to be affected by the disease.

An update of the arrangements

Some of you will already be aware of this but Pat, Steve's partner wanted to let everyone know that the funeral will take place at How Bridge Crematorium on Wednesday 23rd January @ 4pm. A folk club wake will be held at the White Lion, Swinton after the funeral @ 5pm onwards and you are invited to share in a celebration of his life.

We are very sad to hear of Steve passing away. Patricia and I knew him from Swinton Folk club for about 3 yrs very nice man and talented singer song writer guitarist. RIP Steve

It went very well with a couple of Steve's songs played at the service. The turn out at the White Lion later was very good as well with lots of performers turning out to play in his memory.
