When I was a young lad my mother used to sing "Moonlight and Roses" to me. I have forgotten the lyrics so would someone send them to, me? In this case, flowers are used in a romantic way, but of course, they can also represent sadness and death as in Eric Bogle's "No Man's Land"
What other songs incorporate flowers for either romance or sadness.?

Are these the lyrics you want? (Sheet music is not viewable on sheet music sites, though numerous lyric sites have the lyrics and there are plenty of recordings available).

MOONLIGHT AND ROSES
(Ben Black, Edwin H Le Mare, Neil Moret)

Moonlight and roses
Bring wonderful memories of you
My heart reposes
In beautiful thoughts, so true

June light discloses
Love's golden dreams sparkling anew
Moonlight and roses
Bring memories of you

June light discloses
Love's golden dreams sparkling anew
Moonlight and roses
Bring memories of you

You can hear 2 verses and the chorus at the Internet Archive. My transcription:

MOONLIGHT AND ROSES
As recorded by John McCormack, on Victrola 1092-A, 1925.

1. When vesper bells are ringing,
I hear sweet voices singing
As evening shadows fall.
It’s then my heart grows fonder,
As through the flow’rs I wander,
With thoughts so true, dear,
Always of you, dear.

CHORUS: Moonlight and roses
Bring wonderful mem’ries of you.
My heart reposes
In beautiful thoughts so true.
June light discloses
Love’s olden* dreams sparkling anew.
Moonlight and roses
Bring mem’ries of you.

2. I oft recall our meeting,
Our tender loving greeting.
Your smile still haunts my dreams.
And then, alas, we parted.
You left me broken-hearted,
But still I yearn, dear,
For your return, dear.

[* Some singers sing “golden” but I think “olden” is correct.]
