Subject: Good yodeling songs for a yodel workshop From: GUEST,Ari Date: 04 Feb 19 - 12:05 PM I'm looking for a good yodeling song or two to teach in a yodeling workshop. I've been teaching workshops for years, but I've been using the same songs, and I want to add some variety. Things I'm looking for in a song: -Something fun to sing and listen to. -Short verses so there's not too much delay between yodels -Yodels that are simple enough to teach beginners, or can be simplified. So far I've been using "Old Chisolm Trail" with a simple yodel between each verse, and a simplified yodel on Kenny Robert's "Just a Yodel for Me", if that gives you a sense of some songs that work well. Thanks! |

Subject: RE: Good Yodeling songs for a yodel workshop From: leeneia Date: 06 Feb 19 - 10:59 AM There are easy yodels and advanced yodels, and most of the recordings we hear are advanced yodels. I do an easy yodel from a folksong I learned in elementary school. One is pretty well-known. Maybe you know it. OH, I go to Peter's fountain, and what do I hear? From the misty swamp far-away, cuckoo calling so clear. Hy ly rah. Hol di ra, hol di ra, hol di ra cuckoo [3 times] Hol di ra, hy ly rah o! 2. "Tween Easter and Whitsuntide all the snow melts away. Then my girl goes and marries, leaving me in dismay. Repeat yodel ============== On that yodel, I moved the high note to the 2nd 'di'. It sounds more Swiss. The last hy ly rah glides down, doesn't step down. Whitsuntide is Pentecost. |
