Subject: RE: Problem with Easyabc From: Tradsinger Date: 10 Feb 19 - 02:58 PM Thanks for all your suggestions. I think Grishka has nailed it. I was trying to save a file with syntax that the program didn't like. I have now solved it. Tradsinger |
Subject: RE: Problem with Easyabc From: GUEST Date: 10 Feb 19 - 02:35 PM It may be worth opening the ‘Messages’ window (somewhere in the menus at the top) It updates each time one of the underlying utilities (abcm2ps, abc2midi etc ) is used and can give an idea of syntax errors or parts of the ABC code that they don’t like. Some characters in non-ASCI character sets - for example ‘fancy quotes’ on web pages can cause problems. |
Subject: RE: Problem with Easyabc From: GUEST,Grishka Date: 10 Feb 19 - 01:44 PM abcm2ps may not like your ABC tune. More precisely: you may be using some syntax that abcm2ps does not expect. Try to enter it snippet by snippet. The snippet last entered before the crash is the offending one. Check it for unusual elements and replace these. If you are sure that there is no syntax error, contact the ABC people on their Yahoo group. |
Subject: RE: Problem with Easyabc From: Stanron Date: 10 Feb 19 - 10:39 AM Do you think you could uninstall it and then reinstall it? If you are on Windows, EasyABC is a free download. You can get it from here EasyABC If a file has been corrupted or lost a fresh install might be the solution. |
Subject: RE: Problem with Easyabc From: Jon Freeman Date: 10 Feb 19 - 09:40 AM I'm out of touch with what is around and Easyabc seems popular. I guess one thing you could try is to update abcm2ps. I'm not sure as to it's active development status these days but possibly the best place to look is http://abcplus.sourceforge.net/ where Guido Gonzato has maintained binaries for the latest versions. Another alternative would be to try to compile from source but that is more likely to be a method for Linux users and I'm assuming you are on Windows. |
Subject: Problem with Easyabc From: Tradsinger Date: 10 Feb 19 - 09:31 AM I use Easyabc to write up music but now I am getting an error (on 2 different laptops) saying "abcm2ps may have crashed". Any ideas how to fix these, or recommend a good alternative for Easyabc? Thanks. |
