Hi
I'm trying to find the lyrics of this song by the Mcclendon Brothers recorded in 1936. There's some words I can't understand and I'm not sure about some lyrics. If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated. Thanks! Martin

Heaven Bound Gold
McClendon Brothers With Georgia Dell

Walk this word to plainly see there ain’t no (strengh in talkin me)?
Lord, Lord, got them heaven bound blues
Walk this word to plainly see there ain’t no (strengh in talkin me)?
Lord, Lord, got them heaven bound blues

I don’t know but I’ve been told, streets up there are paved with gold
Lord, Lord, got them heaven bound blues
I don’t know but I’ve been told, streets up there are paved with gold
Lord, Lord, got them heaven bound blues

When the angels comes for me, I’m gonna let (this soul world be) ?
Lord, Lord, got them heaven bound blues
When the angels comes for me, I’m gonna let (this soul world be) ?
Lord, Lord, got them heaven bound blues

When I lay me down to die, little darling don’t you cry
Lord, Lord, got them heaven bound blues
When I lay me down to die, little darling don’t you cry
Lord, Lord, got them heaven bound blues

(I don’t want you run the booze) ?, I all want is sing this blues
Lord, Lord, got them heaven bound blues
(I don’t want you run the booze) ?, I all want is sing this blues
Lord, Lord, got them heaven bound blues

Maybe this song may not rhyme,   ??
Lord, Lord, got them heaven bound blues
Maybe this song may not rhyme, singing    time ??
Lord, Lord, got them heaven bound blues

I found this on an album titled Classic Field Recordings. The song entry says "Lil' Dave Thompson - Heaven Bound Blues," by McClendon Brothers with Georgia Dell

I'll just type what I hear on the first line - the rest you can figure out. This may be all wrong, but it's what I hear.

  1. Want this world to plainly see, there ain't no strength in talkin' to me.
  2. I don’t know but I’ve been told, streets up there are paved with gold
  3. When the angels come for me, I’m gonna let this whole world be
  4. When I lay me down to die, little darling don’t you cry
  5. I don’t you want to run no booze, I all want is sing you the blues
  6. I made this song, it may not rhyme, sing it the most part of the time....
