If anyone would like to hear some truly astounding cimbalom playing this is where to go. It kept me awake until after 2am - truly astonishing! https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0002zyr

Sounds great, Joe. Thanks. I won't follow the link, because I have found that the BBC silences the MIDI on my Noteworthy Composer, and I'm worried that someday they'll think of a way to make it permanent.

I too love the cimbalon. In Prague I heard Liszt being played on one. It was amazing, and it seemed like that is the natural instrument for a fast Liszt piece.

Would have liked to hear that but I'm afraid the BBC doesn't like anybody from outside Britain listening to its stuff
We spent some time talking to an elderly Rumanian busker playing a cimbalom on O'Connell Street last year - lovely man

We enjoyed a cimbalom player in a restaurant in Budapest 20 odd years ago..

Granted it was only background easy listening 'gypsy' melodies.
But it was still powerful emotive music..

To listen to BBC R3, you have to register.

I chose not to, however, there's plenty Cimbalom music on You Tube:

Giani Lincan Gipsy Ensemble (Csardas Hm)

Look up the Moldavian-French player Mihai Trestian. I was at a klezmer workshop where he was playing last year - he is the most astonishing folk accompanist I have ever heard on any instrument.
