Just seen on FaceBook that Johnny Dickinson, slide-guitar specialist from Northumberland, has passed away. A major talent, gone from us far, far too young. RIP.

Many friends, and there are very many,of Johnny will be very sad today.They will know what Johnny had to endure for many years. He played his music through incredible health problems.It's great that he had his music to go to.

One of the nicest people you could meet. That his music is a sheer joy completes the picture.

Despite failing health, he still managed an annual booking at our club and it was always a joy to be his sound man. “Does that sound good to you Ian?” “In which case, nothing more to do. Let’s sit and chat.”

His forte was slide guitar, blues. If you want to hear how he treated “folk” I suggest you listen to the excellent album he did as a commission for The BBC, Border Ballads. Stunning. Remains one of the most played albums in my whole collection.

I was sad to hear that john had died
He was a great friend and a brilliant guitarist. he will be missed by all.
