Subject: New Hammond-Gardiner Book From: Steve Gardham Date: 14 Jun 19 - 01:18 PM Hi all, Those who bought the previous volumes in the series Marrow Bones, The Wanton Seed and Southern Harvest might like to know that the next volume is just about ready to go to the publishers, Francis Boutle. The retail cost will be 15 pounds but pre-ordering can get it for 12. The selection from the mss was made by Nick Dow who provided more biographies of singers, and musical notes on such as mode. I have provided historic notes as with the others in the series and the music has been set by Cohen Braithwaite Kilcoyne. This volume contains an unusually high percentage of Child Ballads and 10 chanties. It can be pre-ordered from: Francis Boutle Publishers 272 Alexandra Park Road London N22 7BG Tel: 020 8889 7744 info@francisboutle.co.uk www.francisboutle.co.uk |

Subject: RE: New Hammond-Gardiner Book From: Brian Peters Date: 14 Jun 19 - 02:56 PM This is great news Steve. Do I gather it's new material not previously published in the Purslow series? |
Subject: RE: New Hammond-Gardiner Book From: RTim Date: 14 Jun 19 - 03:40 PM Yes Brian - it is new material not published before - with maybe a couple of new tune versions for some songs that Nick likes. I still think there is still even more in the Manuscripts, particularly in Gardiner (but then I would think that...) Tim Radford |
Subject: RE: New Hammond-Gardiner Book From: Steve Gardham Date: 14 Jun 19 - 05:19 PM Fancy missing off the title!! Whaddamilike? Nick has chosen 'Southern Songster' to go with 'Southern Harvest' the 2 books he has been involved with. Haven't got a release date yet, but all my bits are finished, and Cohen's. I've just remembered, things like indexes, select biblio still need doing. The biblio will just mean adding to previous biblios I suppose. |
