Subject: RE: 2019 Obit: John Lyons From: Waddon Pete Date: 01 Aug 19 - 07:10 AM Another fine musician who has been lost to us. My condolences to his friends and family and all who knew him. The links that Peter Laban posted don't give half of the full story. Perhaps somebody can fill in the gaps for us? RIP Peter |
Subject: RE: 2019 Obit: John Lyons From: Liberty Boy Date: 05 Aug 19 - 06:52 AM He was a lovely man! I first met him in Boyle Co. Roscommon in 1966. A nice two row C#/D accordion player and an absolutely cracking singer. I always associate 'After Aughrim' and 'The May Morning Dew' with him, although he was much more of a singer than that. Released several recordings, the most recent being with his brother Tim on John Howson's Veteran label. He'll be sadly missed! |
