Wow, the first TFTD of the 2000's. I feel it should be something momentous, but am a bit awestruck. So, I will fall back on one of my favourite sources, A Cherokee Feast of Days by Joyce Sequichie Hifler. This seems apropos in view of the past few days and night:

"The voice of doom is loud in our land. It is predicting unheard fears and possibilities. But we have the antidote in our mouths --- our words. Words are powerful, able to turn away the negative thoughts and words of those who have no purpose but to degrade. We don't have to let other people decide that we are victims of every attack, every disease, every wrongdoing. Our u ni ne tsv (words), say the Cherokees, are mighty to pull down anything or any person that lies in wait to harm us. Life and death are truly in the power of the tongue -- and our part is to study the use of words and their effect on us. We know what it is to hear words of courage. It is light entering a dark place and we hear as well as speak.

Give ear, for I am the mouth of my nation. Kiosaton"

And from the same book, this is for anyone who has asked for healing help. Thank you for allowing us to offer assistance:

"When last we saw Essie she had been ashen and without the strength we see in her now. Now she sits flat on the ground, legs straight out front, and reeds tumble across her knees and lie around her. Nimble fingers seek the perfect one to start a basket. Essie is close to our heart. She has our Grandmother's name. Her reticence does not inspire idle talk, so we ask what happened to change her. With a quick glance, she says, "God heal." "Is it possible? So quickly and completely?" Hesitantly, she asks, "You got fast oven?" I say I do. "What make it work?" "Why, microwaves -- energy. They change the molecules, the structure of the bread from cold to hot." Seconds pass. She says, almost too softly, "Prayer energy. Make me well.

I love people who have always made me welcome to the best they had...who are honest without laws...who never take the name of God in vain...who worship God without a Bible...and I believe God loves them too. George Catlin, Artist 1830"

Welcome to the Two Thousands!

Lovely words Kat, reminds me of Chief Seattle. "If all the animals were gone (including 'catters), man would die of a great loneliness of spirit." Cheers to your 2000.
