Subject: RE: Pac coast,Alaska,Hawaii please check in From: SeanM Date: 01 Jan 00 - 03:39 AM Greetings from SoCal... My party staged boarding manuevers against a party across the street, but all things the same, we're still here. May I say at this point that Y2K is just another year? I sit here, drunk off my keister, I realize that the millions spent on the Y2K gremlin FIXED it. The world's still here, life goes on, NOW LET'S GET BACK TO WHAT MATTERS!!! The music that makes life worth living... |

Subject: RE: Pac coast,Alaska,Hawaii please check in From: Mark Cohen Date: 02 Jan 00 - 06:43 PM The humuhumunukunukuapua'a is still swimming by. Happy New Year from the Big Island. By the way, did you know that this whole Y2K bug scam came out of a conversation between Bill Gates and an attorney friend of his (now deceased) after a squash game at the Seattle Athletic Club in 1990? Bill had suddenly realized what would happen to all the computers in 2000, and was wondering aloud how to inform the public about the snafu and how to fix it in a way that would help protect Microsoft, which was already doing pretty damn well. The attorney, always a quick thinker, said, "Bill, just keep your mouth shut. Can you imagine all the lawsuits that will be filed if this all blows up? We're talking hog heaven for lawyers, and we don't usually talk about heaven. Don't worry, you just fix Microsoft and let the good ol' American justice system deal with everybody else." Aloha, Mark |
Subject: RE: Pac coast,Alaska,Hawaii please check in From: Joe Offer Date: 02 Jan 00 - 09:20 PM Hey, is the millennium here yet? I've been at been at Camp Harmony all week with Blessings Barbara and Jerry & Bev and a few occasional Mudcatters. We had a big celebration when somebody's wind-up pocket watch said it was midnight, but we've been acoustic all week and wouldn't have noticed any problems. Besides, we've been having too much fun. The San Francisco Folk Music Club's Camp Harmony is held the week after Christmas every year. It's very similar to the Washington, DC Getaway, but with dancing and instrumental music, in addition to the wonderful singing. Best of all, Debbie McClatchy serves breakfast at the civilized hour of 10 AM, so people can stay up late making music and still get up in time for breakfast. We headed for home at noon, and now I'm ready to jump into my very own shower in my very own heated bathroom. The last music I heard at camp was "Jug Band Music" - played with a didgeridoo in the band. It was great fun, but it's nice to be home. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: Pac coast,Alaska,Hawaii please check in From: Ebbie Date: 03 Jan 00 - 03:22 AM Everything fine in Juneau, Alaska- I don't think anyone expects anything much different from tomorrow's fired up computers. Some people appear disappointed with the normalcy! |
