I SURVIVED Y2K, Yours,Aye. Dave NEW YEAR Each New Year is a leaf of our love's rose; It falls, but quick another rose-leaf grows. So is the flower from year to year the same, but richer, for the dead leaves feed its flame.

Of course I'm okay. I posted to a different thread that's all. Geez, we got a world wide cyber community and you want to pin us back down to geographical realities.

Hey! Okiemockbird aka Tbird started it! Sorry sopho, forgot you'd checked in. It's just a roll call and, 'sides, I didn't want ya'll's feelings hurt, 'cause most of the threads for checking in were named for regions, and there wasn't one for Canada, so it's just my way of telling ya I care!

Yes, we survived both the roll over and the celebration..... awesome music session (irish) after the band quit about 1:30, we kept some of them playing and dancing for another hour at least.....

Lots of hugs and kisses on the bewitching hour (best part of the night!) and great music......

Even better was new years day!!.... a group of us from our local Hobie Fleet (check my pictures at bbc) went for a New Years Day Sail!! Great company, Great DAy (sunny) and great winds (20-25 knots) then back to the bar for supper and a few pints..... what a rough day!! The joys of living on the West coast of Canada (vancouver BC) Snow crested mountains, beautiful skyline on a sunny day....

wishing everyone the best for the coming year.......

Hi hi,
Well, I led a group of six brave hearts for a maritime themed New Years dance. It went pretty well. I might even have my voice back in a few days.
We played till about two, and that's the story.

Cheers to all. Owl/Mart

Heh Ho from Canada eh?

Loved every minute of the flip from 1999 to 2000. We (Faded Denim) played to a standing room only crowd at St. Andrews church hall in Uxbridge. Lots of families sharing community time together. Finished at 11pm and headed out for the mayor's speech, countdown, fireworks and our lovely new Carillon (Sp.?) chimes in the Library clock tower. Then champagne and toasts all around at Judy's house, then on to the Balfour party - songs and merriment till 4am. A wonderful night of music and friendship.

And... my old computers still all work... amazing! What Y2K bug??

Peace to all. Reid

Nope, I didn't make it. I'm sitting here in candlelight, cooking a can of beans over the campstove, cleaning my shotgun.

...and besides that, I turned the date on my computer back a month. I'm afraid to let it flip over to 2000. Can't afford a new one right now. Does holding back the date really help? I've been told by people who should know, that it "may cause problems when you're working with date-sensitive things". Nobody could offer an opinion as to what these things may be, or what problems may be caused.

Paul

A very great Canadian Prime Minister once said that "The 20th century belongs to Canada", and we are putting off the date change until that happens. Our sister republic Cuba is doing the same, I hear.
yours, Peter T.

Thanks for y'er concern, Kat. There were no problems in northern Alberta except the kitchen was too small and we had to have a basement party. Had no problems with YKK ... it stayed up, dammit! Didn't have to break into my survival kit for Y2KY jelly either. Oh, and my computer is working fine, too. Did visit a Cape Breton web site this moprning where the year reads "19100"

;o

Not only made it, on New Year's day I played in our annual golf tournament, the weather was fantastic, ended up taking off my jacket and playing in a sweater. It was quite a contrast to last year when it was about minus 20 celsius.
