Subject: Review: Safe Courier for my Fylde From: GUEST,Fyldeplayer Date: 19 Oct 19 - 10:20 AM To get the neck on my Fylde Oberon reset well, I am going to put it back to The maker. Can anyone suggest a safe courier service, doesn't need to be same day. I suspect a fair bit of work required so it's going to get pricey. |

Subject: RE: Safe Courier for my Fylde From: punkfolkrocker Date: 19 Oct 19 - 10:50 AM When I needed to take my Gibson electric guitar to a big city warranty repair luthier, I decided in the end it was more peace of mind to to get a return train ticket, book overnight in a budget price hotel, and take it myself... Just needed to make all the arrangements far enough in advance to find lowest prices.. I also conived to coincide the trip with our wedding anniversary, so it became a more cost effective short romantic holiday for me and the mrs, that I also took my bulky guitar case along to... |

Subject: RE: Safe Courier for my Fylde From: GUEST,Fyldeplayer Date: 20 Oct 19 - 02:55 AM That must be over 25 years ago - but have had emails with Fylde who have suggested recent options. I tried playing it last night - even with the problem high action it sounds so nice, it's either a neck reset or the cedar top is going need some serious flattening. No idea why that happened. |
Subject: RE: Safe Courier for my Fylde From: GUEST,Gilly Date: 20 Oct 19 - 02:32 PM When I needed a reset on my 12 string I took it back to Mansons in Exeter from whence it came and stayed over. Had a great weekend to the point where I did the same again when it was ready. Only problem was I couldn't resist buying a new Telecaster while I was in the shop. . . . . |
Subject: RE: Safe Courier for my Fylde From: punkfolkrocker Date: 20 Oct 19 - 02:51 PM Manson's was where I had to take my Gibson.. Took it on a Friday and picked it up Monday.. That was a fairly pleasant wedding anniversary weekend break in Exeter, despite the expensive drink and food prices... ..and the extortionately over priced cider was warm and vinegary in just about evey pub... ..and posh students chain smoking roll ups while we were eating in the yard of the best pub we found.. I bet their parents can afford the prices in Manson's and the other excellent guitar shop. While we were in Manson's a cluless doting mother was buying her indifferent teenage son a two grand Les Paul to learn on... |
