Belinda Kempster & Fran Foote: The Goose Is Out! Thursday 14 November, The Ivy House 40 Stuart Road London SE15 3BE. Doors 7pm £8.

Sadly, due to circumstances beyond his control, Thom Ashworth has had to cancel tonight.

But we are so delighted to have been able to book Belinda and Fran instead at quite short notice, as they were already on our shortlist for next year!

Many of you will already know Fran Foote from Stick in the Wheel. Belinda Kempster is her mother.

They are both from Essex, sharing songs and singing together without frills or fuss.

Belinda began singing traditional songs in the 60s and has always preferred English country songs. Their family has a history of farming and working on the land, and their songs come from the work and recreation of that way of life.

Belinda and her husband John met in a folk club and Fran grew up immersed in the local folk scene, learning songs from her parents from a very young age.
