Genuine curiosity prompts this question:
am I the only person in Mudcat-Land
who never before heard of the topic of this thread?

The years 2007 - 2008 coincided with a strike
by the Writers Guild of America,
a blow to show business in general
and television, it seems, in particular.

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, it seems,
was writer Joss Whedon's way of striking back
without letting down his fellow writers on strike.

The thing that gives me pause is that
apparently the public response was massive.
There is, ten or more years on,
a whole fandom of people who recall this thing.
As the word blog implies,
it was released on the Internet.
Some people got the songs of of I-Tunes.

There are three short acts, each with songs.
"Bad Horse Chorus" seems especially popular.

That I had never before heard of this
tells you that
I was not an internet/laptop/smartphone baby,
and not plugged in.

How about it --
who HAS heard of this thing?

One time, my daughter borrowed two DVDs from the library. The first was Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. When we watched it, I remember thinking "That's the strangest movie I've ever seen." The second was Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. After watching that, I thought Scott Pilgrim was remarkably conventional.

Heh. Don, that's not a bad summary of Dr. Horrible. And all three of the leads have gone on to (or maintained) very successful careers -- Fillion is on his second successful series for ABC, Felicia Day is now running a streaming-TV production & distribution company specializing in programming for various sorts of self-identified geeks (Geek & Sundry), and Neil Patrick Harris keeps busy with Broadway stage roles and the periodic TV hosting gig.
