The Portsmouth [NH] Maritime Folk Festival and the Seacoast folk music community lost a dear friend last night — Dave Hamil. Dave was a fine folk musician who toured mostly in the American West from the Fifties to the Seventies and he and his wife Ellen have been major supporters of the Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival and the folk and maritime community at large.

I'm gutted...writing this with tears in my eyes. Dave and Ellen have been such good friends to and so supportive of Tom (Tom Hall, Mudcat's "Curmudgeon") and I as well.

Dave finally, at Alex Herlihy's and Ellen's coaxing, put his reminisces into a memoir published just a few months ago —
