Has anyone else found that there isn’t a lot of interest out there now for Coronavirus songs, be they serious or comical? Having come up with several during the dark days of 2020-21, when we all had time on our hands, I thought people would enjoy seeing the funny side of it all when we came out the other side, apart from those of us who lost loved ones of course. I recall Youtube song parodies were attracting huge numbers of hits during the lockdowns, but I guess we welcomed some light relief at the time. Is it just too soon to joke about? Or is it that people are embarrassed about it all now and want to draw a line under it and move on? Then again, I suppose topical comic songs tend to have a limited shelf life anyway.

Here's one I posted to a previous thread about Covid songs. It was written in April, 2020 when we were just starting to realize what we were in for. After writing and posting it I shelved it as being too hopeless, too bleak.

Weeping

Early this morning I woke from my sleeping
The damp of my cheeks let me know I'd been weeping
Wide awake now, I can't get back to sleep
I sit on the bed and continue to weep
I weep for the aged and those who're infirm
I weep for the children no longer able to learn
I weep for the doctors, the nurses and such
I weep for a world denied the comfort of touch
I'm up and I'm dressed and having my coffee
I sit down and turn on some news
I watch for a minute to see how they spin it
I turn it off now I'm crying the blues
I weep for the stranded, desperate to get home
And those who're not only dying but dying alone
Those with no respirator who can't catch a breath
And those for whom triage has chosen for Death
It's lunchtime now and I better eat something
I'll cook the food my son left on the stairs
My wife the RN is now living at work
I'm here with my dogs, but alone with my cares
I weep for the families from whom a loved one was torn
I weep for the young and those yet to me born
I weep for New Yorkers who urgently asked
But now doctors are dying for the want of a mask
God damn it I wish I could stop all the crying
But they're pitching tents in the park to house all the dying
Its suppertime now but who feels like eating
With humanity taking such a bloody ass beating
I weep for our people whose leaders are senseless
I weep for the poor, the weak, the defenseless
I weep for those taken and those who are spared
I weep for the lonely and those who are scared
It's late at night and I take to my bed
I scruff up the pillow under my head
But my eyes defy me and continue to weep
As I strive for the silence and the darkness of sleep

Talking Covid 19 Blues

Well let me tell you ‘bout Coronavirus
It’s a nasty thing, and it could expire us
It might even prematurely retire us
‘Cos it doesn’t care, if we’re not there.

Well I don’t want to leave this human race
At least one person will miss my face
And in their life there’d be a me shaped space
They’d surely grieve, if I should leave.

So if like me you want to stay
You need to wash your hands many times a day
The soap and water keeps them bugs away
And I advise a : hand sanitiser.

Well this virus is called Covid 19
And it’s the nastiest sucker I’ve ever seen
It’s using us as a go between
You can get a dose, if you stand too close

So keep yourself and your folks from harm.
Cover up your mouth, sneeze into your arm
Don’t spread fake news, it’ll cause alarm.
If we all strive, we can stay alive.

From: Holly Tannen

My friend told me his Christian sister refused to have her children vaccinated, but instead dosed them with ivermectin, an antihelminthic.

PRAYER

Oh God above, protect us from the evil Pharma giants
As You have protected us from viruses and germs.
Praise be for Ivermectin, it works on dogs and horses
Our kids may die of Covid, but thank God they won’t get worms.

Mary had a little Bug attributed to Bathgate High Bowling Club

Mary had a little bug
The one they called Corona
She caught it in a catch-up
With her pals Yvette and Shona

Who else was there ? I dinae care
We hadn't been out for weeks
Now Shona's blue in ICU
Too breathless when she speaks

Maary had a little cough ,
She dinae wear a mask
Instead she wore a sticker saying
I'm exempt don't ask

Coughing in the kitchen
As she plated up the scones
And the a round of filtered selfies
With all the girls Iphones

Mary had a little bug
And now so does her Granny
Her Boss her son
His pal his mum
For Mary is [an Ejit] or [a Fanny]

Early on in the pandemic, I was washing my hands so much and in the cooler weather too that my hands were so dry; I gave in and used hand lotion made by the brand Vaseline. I started singing to the tune Glycerine by Bush my own little song that went “ Don’t let your hands go dry … Vaseline.”

https://protestfamily.com/2021/12/01/oh-micron/

OH, MICRON!

Not oh-my-cron, little o
But ommi-cron, I don’t know
Why it should be so, but
The alphabet deflects damnation
From the variant’s home nation
And nu could be confused with new
And xi could be confusing too,
But Johnson called it omnicron   [Boris Johnson, UK p.m.]
And that is definitely wrong.

Meanwhile Coach JVT
Says we’re picking up injury
And a yellow card or three.
So, to avoid sending offs
With persistent coughs
He’s bringing on the booster shots
And masking up in all the shops
And trains and buses, at the stops
Unlike his cavalier boss.

But transport’s one thing
And shops are another
While pubs and restaurants
Don’t have to bother.
If it’s personal responsibility
What happens in hospitality
Ain’t the fault of their strategy.
“No sir, not us at all!”
When it’s all spaffed up the wall.

Now they’re bringing in the army,
Calling up the volunteers,
Rolling up their sleeves
Like antiviral engineers.
They haven’t cancelled Christmas
(That would be bad for business)
Although there have been whispers.
Not oh micron, but omicron
What could possibly go wrong?

Subject: Lyr Req: Six Feet Apart (Jody Gallagher)
From: Felipa
Date: 03 Nov 21 - 09:10 PM

Six Feet Apart by Jody Gallagher
two different recordings of the same song

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eRAnbkOpWo sung by Frank Kilkelly and Orla Rose Kilkelly

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzWi8IDc7ps Jody Gallagher

chorus
Six feet apart, that's how we'll all survive
Six feet apart - not three,not four not five
Let's follow doctors orders
....
We'll beat this thing together
Six feet apart.
-------------------------------------------------
It's a popular title:

SIX FEET APART (Luke Combs) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYTzZURtnJA

Chorus:
I miss my mom, I miss my dad
I miss the road, I miss my band
Giving hugs and shaking hands
It’s a mystery I suppose
Just how long this thing goes
But there’ll be crowds and there’ll be shows
And there will be light after dark
Some day when we aren’t six feet apart
================================================
Alec Benjamin's "Six Feet Apart" with lyrics on screen.

SIX FEET APART (Alex Benjamin)

They say distance is relative
and relative to relatives
I have id say I'm relatively close
To breaking down
because right now
I feel so alone

I’ve been missing the elements
and wishing the elephant
in the room would leave
and kindly close the door
I cant ignore
him like before
not anymore

Oh I miss you most at
six feet apart
When you’re right outside my window
But can’t ride inside my car

And it hurts to know
just how lovely you are
And be too far away to hold
But close enough
to break my heart

I miss your smile
Feels like miles
Six feet apart

So far
so far but so close
Like a star
out in the cosmos
Can’t touch
the beauty I see
Thats how it all feels to me

So far
so far but so close
Like a star
out in the cosmos
Can’t touch
the beauty I see
Thats how
it feels at six feet

Space and time are interwoven
well at least that’s what we’re told
when I was young
I was suspicious
But its true
time sticks like glue
I feel so blue
here missing you

So I think Ill build a time machine
and go back to a time
when we didn’t need
to measure six feet on the ground
When I came around
thats now allowed
I cant go back now

So I miss you most at
six feet apart
When you’re right outside my window
But can’t ride inside my car

And it hurts to know
just how lovely you are
And be too far away to hold
But close enough
to break my heart

I miss your smile
Feels like miles
Six feet apart

So far
so far but so close
Like a star
out in the cosmos
Can’t touch
the beauty I see
Thats how it all feels to me

So far
so far but so close
Like a star
out in the cosmos
Can’t touch
the beauty I see
Thats how
it feels at six feet

I vowed from day one that I would not write a song that had anything to do with Covid 19. It's ruined enough of my life already and I don't want a continuing reminder of it, especially in song. But hey, that's just me, fill your boots with it if you so desire ...... I'm out.

What Sandra said.

Anyway, this song just popped into my head. It pre-dates COVID by 20 years but the lyrics are resonating with me right now, in the midst of a pandemic of mis-managing politicians. Right now I'd rather be in Victoria or Queensland or WA where the pollies seem to have their heads screwed on right. Oh well, enough of the political druthers, here's the song:

Glad's Rag (stay at home) The COVID lockdown you have when you're not having a lockdown.

Here in Sydney, in the land of Oz, & in much of our state we are in lockdown. Other states are also in lockdown, Delta covid is racing around, exacerbated by the vaccine "stroll-out", not for us an orderly & timely roll-out. We also have rule breakers, anti-vaxxers & fans of 'freedom'

The federal govt was in charge the stroll-out (our The Prime Minister is/was a friend & fan of Trump!) & our state govt is also to the right, so the references in the song refer to the confusion of the original lockdown which started in late June. It has since been tightened - there are now only 4 or 5 reasons to be outside - & extended & will end 28th Aug - covid permitting.

The stable door has been locked, kind of ...

I Could Not Stop For Covid
        by Homily Tannenson
Tune: The Bold Privateer   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeHVVpx-ny4

I could not stop for Covid
So He kindly stopped for me.
The Seniors’ bus held only us
And my mortality.
        He slowly drove down Franklin Street
        As I lay down my phone
        And wondered what to say
        After nine long weeks alone.

We passed the school where children once
Played soccer on the lawn.
The playground and the swimming pool,
But everyone was gone.
        He paused outside the coffee shop
        I used to go to eat
        But no one was inside now
        And no one on the street.

I shivered in the morning fog
The air was cold and dank
No neighbors in the hardware store
The grocery or the bank.
        I raised my mask and asked him
        Is poison on my breath?
        Or shall I live and witness
        My town condemned to Death?

This is from a UK perspective. In the UK winds from the west and southwest are warm and wet. Winds from the east and north east are cold and frosty. I guess that in the US these wind directions may have different effects.

In February we had a longish spell of cold east winds and vaccinations had only just begun. It's just about out of date now but for what it's worth here is my February feast.

Just a note of positivity amidst the gloom

to the tune
You've got to accentuate the positive

We're all testing Delta positive
Few are testing negative
With vaccine you are going to live
Don't mess with Mister Facebook meme

You've got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith not pandemicmonium
Liable to walk upon the scene

To illustrate thier last remark
Bob in ICU, Gale in ambulance
What did they do
Just when everything looked so dark

Man, they said we better, accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister No Vaccine
No, do not mess with Mister No Vaccine

Do you hear me?
Oh, listen to me children and-a you will hear
About the eliminatin' of the negative
And the accent on the positive
And gather 'round me children if you're willin'
And sit tight while I start reviewin'
The attitude of doin' right
You've gotta accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Anti vaccine memes
You've got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom, down to the minimum
Otherwise pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene
To illustrate my last remark
Bob in ICU, Gale in ambulance
What did they say
Say when everything looked so dark
Man, they said we better accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative

There's also songs about the vaccines

the Marsh Family have produced a lot of Pandemic song videos. Have the New Jab goes to the air of "Hallelujah"

Give Us the Vax by an Irish group Foil Arms and Hog

                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In Northern Ireland there is a big push now to get the 18-35 year olds vaccinated, but they are not coming forward in droves the way their elders did.
I came across a new Covid parody, a rewrite of Peter Hame's "I'm an Ordinary Man" (a song about lay-offs and unemployment). "I'm a vaccinated man" is a song about emerging from lock down.
It's not in very good taste, but may be just the sort of song to help inspire the younger crowd to go and get the Covid jab. [need however to parody whatever type of music they do listen to ...]
Among the things we can look forward to post-pandemic, this struck a chord with me!: "We can cough without being death-stared in the aisles."
And another...
The Virus (C) tune = Harry Pollitt or…Son of a a Gambolier
Well, the Wet Markets of China, are a nightmare to behold,
A twisting, squirming, cesspool that will make your blood run cold.
A breeding place for squaller, unknown viruses and pain,
Disease and untold misery, in mixtures inhumane.
Well, the year was 2019, ’twas December I recall,
The virus started moving in a radiating crawl.
Word came from out of China, as the year was winding down,
Donald Trump told Woodward, “It’s sure to shut us down.”
        It’s sure to shut us down, sure to shut us down,
        Donald Trump told Woodward, “It’s sure to shut us down.”
“I hear the virus passes both by touch and in the air,
I’ll just try to hide it, there’s no need to cause a scare.”
Then Donald told the people, “This will soon be gone,
Just another pesky flu, some fluke phenomenon.” …some fluke (as above)
From China into Europe, creepin’ slowly to the west,
The population of the earth’s, soon under house arrest.
Fourteen days becomes a month, and maybe then a year,
2020’s not so fun, the future’s not so clear. …similarty
Now we’re living with the virus, COVID-19 is its name,
Times is gettin’ hard folks, things might never be the same.
Donald Trump declined, to lead in any way,
He thought if he ignored it, it might just go away.
For a man who questions science, in thought, and word, and deed,
He rode that helicopter all the way to Walter Reed.
Everybody has a say, to what good sense demands,
Stay inside, wear a mask, be sure to wash your hands.
One group trusts the doctors, another says, “No way.”
Folks just keep on dying, the vaccine is “on its way.”
Youth seem not to have a fear, it’s just the elderly,
Hate to say it, some fine day, you’ll be as old as me.
Until this virus is no more, and life begins anew,
I’ll strum upon my ol’ guitar and sing this song for you.
To Stevebury, perhaps another version...
Six Foot Blues (C)
Based upon a 17 March 2020 “Mudcat” post by Steve Woodbury & Ann Bauer
C                      E                      A
Five-foot-two, that won’t do, gotta stay six feet from you,
D                   G                        C        G
Everybody’s got the six-foot blues.
C                         E                         A
Social distance, gets resistance, still the CDC’s insistence,
D                      G          C
Gives us all the six-foot blues.
    E                                              A
    Coronavirus, does inspire us, it’s all the news,
    D                                    G
    To obey what they say, must not hinder or confuse.
C                      E                         A
Miss my family miss my friends, I think loneliness offends,
D                G                        C
Everybody’ got the six-foot blues.
Don’t go out, stay in and pout, move the furniture about,
Reading all the the books I choose.
Au revoir, corner bar, thump upon that old guitar,
Social distance…do not schmooze.
    Antiseptic, brand new metric, is the routine,
    Conversation, separation, six feet is the in between.
There’s no debate, just vaccinate, lower the extinction rate,
Eliminate the six-foot blues.
Well, we're nearly through the weeds here. While I've seen a lot of songs here that encourage responsible behavior, I think the ones that will be more interesting historically are the ones that run contrary to that narrative. Here's one (well, really a poem) I came across re-posted on Facebook today. No comments on the opinions shared, but I think it's an interesting poem that captures the feelings of some people during this period of turmoil -- Covid et al.
When I sit down to read a book,
Some idjit says to me,
“Oppressor, check your privilege —
We’ll decide what you can see!”
And if I dare to contravene
Or decline to heed his quarantine,
Some philistine on Twitter sternly says,
“That literature’s obscene!
“You must do as we dictate,
“And we shall de-platform that hate!”
Now, what can I say
About the news today?
Under pressure from the mob
A gaggle of millionaires
— Dr. Seuss’s own literary heirs! —
Are nixing six books — they are pressing “Delete.”
And we’ll never again stroll down Mulberry Street.
That’s nothing new to us:
Just go ask Mark Twain
How the story of Huck Finn
Got flushed down the drain.
“Art should break rules!”
So they used to say.
But the fools’ new command
Is that art must obey.
Conformism’s victory is almost complete
So you’ll never again visit Mulberry Street.
The great and the small fry,
From Steinbeck to Weiss
Are pushed into the margins
Their words put on ice.
Harper Lee, Whitman, Rushdie, and Golding —
Faced with complaints, the school boards are folding.
Freedom of speech has nary a booster:
Not at The Atlantic nor Simon & Schuster.
The New York Times will bellow and bleat,
And the silence will echo down Mulberry Street.
No, this won’t do, this won’t do at all —
This won’t do, these minds so small!
If they see just one word that they deem indiscreet
They’ll melt into puddles on old Mulberry Street.
Hold on a minute! Has it come to that?
Yertle the Turtle? The Cat in the Hat?
The Whos down in Whoville —
All samizdat?
Informers informing, keep your eyes on your feet:
The Secret Police patrol Mulberry Street.
Must we be doomed to litigate
The past, which did not anticipate
The present? Must it be our sorry fate
To comically self-flagellate?
We live and we learn
And our attitudes change.
Every day is a new day —
But isn’t it strange
That people who sell books
Should have the conceit
To put up a roadblock on Mulberry Street?
The hucksters and hypocrites
Are quick to join forces
And report any wrongthink
To Human Resources.
I know what I know . . . and this isn’t right.
Amazon plots
In the dark of the night
And gone is a book
That won’t see the light.
But wouldn’t it be grand
If they cared half as much
About books as their brand?
Oh, but who needs all that reading when there’s Netflix to binge?
The Star-Belly Sneetches now have their revenge.
An intelligent book
Deserves someone to read it.
A book that starts fights?
We desperately need it.
An unpopular view?
The campus should hear it.
But both teachers and students
Are afraid to go near it.
They cling to their wubbies
And bury their faces.
Away with you ninnies —
Back to your safe spaces!
Go back to TikTok or stay home and tweet.
You don’t deserve to see Mulberry Street. ??
Lyrics to the song above
Chorus:
What we ganna do?  What we ganna do?
What we ganna do with the Wuhan Flu?
Everybody’s doomed, ‘cept me & you
So what we ganna do with the Wuhan Flu?
1.  Wor lass has got a cough & she’s tekken t've her bed
I’m not so grand meself so I’m sitting in me shed
I’m self-isolatin' ‘cos I’m feelin' very frail
With a vegan steak bake & a crate of Brown Ale
Chorus
(Y'e knaa what wu've got t'do..)
2.  Batten down the hatches, move your bed downstairs
There’s not a penny left in ya Stocks & Shares
Or run screaming down the street with ya hands in the air
And spend the kid’s inheritance like you just don’t care!
Chorus
(I’ll tell you what I did…)
3.  I said to the gaffer, ye knaa this cough
It’s spreading like the plague & I need a week off!
‘Cos I shook the hand of a lad wheizee mother
Got the bus to Blaydon with me best friends brother!
Chorus
(I’ll tell you what we've  aall got t'do….)
4.  Wash your hands, sing happy birthday twice,
Or count Boris Johnsons kids, that works just as nice.
And if you get infected I suggest that you try
To stick you head between your knees and kiss your arse goodbye!
Chorus
Here's one I heard recently related to COVID, among other things. It's more of a current events song but it definitely mentions Covid a few times. I really liked the wordplay in the song--it's a lot 'smarter' than many of these parody songs tend to be.
JP Harris - Take Off Your Tinfoil Hat (listen)
Well, I read on Reddit that the Reds are commin'
And by Reds I mean Blues that are secretly Commies
That were posthumously hired by Hugo Chavez to alter ballots
And the theory holds water if you don't overthink it
The water is a Kool-Aid, so don't ever drink it
And I only trust news that is tailored to my discerning palate
Did you know Q is the 45th letter in the alphabet
And that's how I know the 45th president
Sends secret codes in 45-character tweets
Oh, and D-Day's comin' and I'm armed to the teeth
Against tyrannical government except when I think
They need my unsolicited help quelling people's freedom of speech
CHORUS
So take off your tin foil hat
Don't you know that it's out of fashion
Don't you know that Jesus has found
All the ammo that you've been stashin'
You believe that 5G's
Comin' in the night to take your babies
Away for the Satanist hordes--good Lord!
Y'all must be bored, you need to get off the internet
Oh, the virus is fake, so I'm goin' to the beach
And a mask makes you wanna have sex with sheep
And I'll shoot you if you stop me from gettin' drunk over at Chili's
Oh, I've read between the lines, or at least every 20
I skimmed the report, somethin' seems funny
And the proof is all there, I just don't have the details, really
Well, global warming's a hoax from a super-computer
To take all our trucks and make us drive scooters
And micro-chip the masses, I just know it to be so
I want the freedom to die in a senseless mass shooting
I heard Obama was payin' the protests and looting
And the proof is in the basement of the Alamo
CHORUS
Oh, I said Lord--Good Lord!--you need to get off
Stay off
Get gone
From the internet
What's Old Is New Again. Heil Trump!
Battle Hymn Updated
                -Mark Twain
Mine eyes have seen the orgy of the launching of the Sword;
He is searching out the hoardings where the stranger's wealth is stored;
He hath loosed his fateful lightnings, and with woe and death has scored;
His lust is marching on.
I have seen him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps;
They have builded him an altar in the Eastern dews and damps;
I have read his doomful mission by the dim and flaring lamps—
His night is marching on.
I have read his bandit gospel writ in burnished rows of steel:
"As ye deal with my pretensions, so with you my wrath shall deal;
Let the faithless son of Freedom crush the patriot with his heel;
Lo, Greed is marching on!"
We have legalized the strumpet and are guarding her retreat;
Greed is seeking out commercial souls before his judgement seat;
O, be swift, ye clods, to answer him! be jubilant my feet!
Our god is marching on!
In a sordid slime harmonious Greed was born in yonder ditch,
With a longing in his bosom—and for others' goods an itch.
As Christ died to make men holy, let men die to make us rich—
Our god is marching on.
Subject: A cozy Covid Christmas
From: Black belt caterpillar wrestler
Seeing as this song will hopefully soon only be useful as an historical document, here it is for posterity.
A COZY COVID CHRISTMAS.
It’s a cozy Covid Christmas not what we’ve had before.
Everybody’s ordered presents from a famous website store.
They’ve done it all at once to make the postage free
And now the boxes have arrived and their piled beneath the tree.
CH. There’s a book by a celebrity who’s just been in the news,
A calendar of the Lake District with rather splendid views,
A box of chocs from Weight watchers and loads and loads of booze,
And a voucher for a parachute jump you’re never going to use
You’ve never had to sit before and search from screen to screen.
Thinking what would suit a friend, who for months you haven’t seen
Then the thing that you decide on, they’ve just sold the last one
And you end up with a token and a “Bumper book of fun”
You decorate the Christmas tree and festoon it with lights
You scrounge some berried holly from some garden-center sites.
A little Santa’s grotto in the corner of the room
So it all looks very glamorous when you’re sitting there on Zoom
The parcels keep on coming, each one bigger than before.
They’re stuffed with crumpled paper and bubble-wrap galore.
Recycling all that packaging will really be a pain
You’ll never get your green credentials up to scratch again.
And then the day arrives at last, you’re on your own, but Lo!
Your family are on the screen, in boxes, row on row.
You open presents one by one and murmur “Oh how kind”
As you strip away the paper and this is what you find:
It’s time for Christmas dinner and you’re eating by yourself.
The turkey is enormous and it’s bent the oven shelf.
You’ve never eaten quite so much you’re vastly overfed
Thank God for all the toilet rolls you’ve stashed inside the shed.
It’s a cozy Covid Christmas, but remember, never fear.
If the politicians don’t sort it out there’s another one next year!
Merry Christmas
Robin
I won't arise and go now,
The oldest version I could find from google was on the Neston u3a website.
I've had this reply from Lesley after making enquiries via their webmaster.
"Thank you for contacting Neston and for following due diligence to ascertain the writer, however, this is not my poem.
A friend forwarded it to me and I sent it to someone in Neston U3A.
I had tried to find out who wrote it but it was a mystery. There was a bit of a mistake when it was shared on the Neston site as it was added with the phrase ‘from Lesley’ and then I asked for it to be made clear that it wasn’t ‘by Lesley’ ,,,"
but that line was still on their page, 7 Nov 2020
A short covid-19 poem has lately been doing the rounds of F*c*book, usually credited as "anon", but occasionally to some one called "Les". To me it has the distinct flavour of something possibly from the pen of Les Barker, but I could be drawing a long bow here. Confirmation of authorship would be appreciated if anyone knows for sure...
OK, a little off topic for this thread, I realise, but it does contain a few nods to what may be loosely considered as folk songs, so thought it might be worth a mention here.
Enjoy!
COVID-19
I won't arise and go now, and go to Innisfree;
I'll sanitise the door knob and make a cup of tea.
I won't go down to the sea again; I won't go out at all;
I'll wander lonely as a cloud from the kitchen to the hall.
There's a green-eyed yellow monster to the north of Kathmandu,
But I shan't be seeing him just yet, and nor, I think, will you.
While the dawn comes up like thunder on the road to Mandalay,
I'll make my bit of supper and eat it off the tray.
I shall not speed my bonnie boat across the seas to Skye,
Or take the rolling English road from Birmingham to Rye.
About the woodland, just right now, I am not free to go
To see the Keep Out posters or the cherry hung with snow.
And no, I won't be traveling much within the realms of gold,
Or get to Milford Haven; all that's been put on hold.
"Give me your hand", I shan't request, albeit we are friends,
Nor come within a mile of you until this sh*t show ends.
one more time, a little neater! cac
WHEN THEY REOPEN ALL THE BARS - COVID SONG
w/m by Penka Jane Culevski of Seattle
(one heck of a songwriter, and a lovely singer!)
1. I’ll drink my whiskey neat again
Sing in chorus with my friends
Wish well to Johnny, our dear bartend
When they reopen all the bars
—chorus—
When they reopen all the bars
When they reopen all the bars
We’ll all shake hands and all link arms
When they reopen all the bars
2. I’ll give a hug to sweet Colleen
And hear her whistle bright and keen
When all of us may reconvene
When they reopen all the bars
        —chorus—
3. We’ll sit together knee to knee
Sharing tunes, and converse free
Passing hours cheerfully
When they reopen all the bars
        —chorus—
4. We’ll gayly greet old Jackie Tar
We’ll hunt the bucks of Oranmore          (The Bucks of Oranmore: Irish reel tune)
Banish misfortune, when frost’s all o’er         (Banish Misfortune: Irish jig tune)
When they reopen all the bars
        —chorus—
5. We’ll raise a glass, fear to dispel
And one for those who made us well
We’ll raise one more for those that fell
When they reopen all the bars
        —chorus—
6. We’ll gather then, long overdue
All our friendships to renew
I’ll kiss my love there in full view
When they reopen all the bars
—chorus—x2
