Subject: Susan Guiney of group Aisling 1988 From: GUEST,Lin Date: 28 Apr 20 - 10:31 PM I am trying to find the folk cassette by a group called Aisling. Album is called 'Maidin' with female singer named Susan Guiney. It was released on Woodenship Records in about 1988. Woodenship Records was out of Glendale, California. I saw the Billboard mention of the album per recent response to my other post. However, no luck in calling a phone number from that article from that date. I used to have this tape cassette many years ago but unfortunately it got lost and I have not been able to find it again. I believe it was ONLY released on a cassette tape in 1988, and not on a CD later. If anyone knows how I could get in contact with Susan Guiney or someone could sell me a copy of this cassette I would appreciate it very, very much! As I mentioned, I had no luck in calling a phone number in the Glendale, California for Woodenship records or person associated with that company from 1988. Probably record company no longer in business as it was a small indepndent record company at that time. Susan Guiney does an outstanding cover of the song, Shennandoah (spelling?) Well, I'll think you'll know of the song. I don't remember the names of any other members of this group. The front cover of the cassette had a drawing of a lady, not a photograph. Or if anyone has a current email where I could contact Susan Guiney, folk singer in group Aisling that would be helpful. Thank you, Lin |
Subject: RE: Susan Guiney of group Aisling 1988 From: cnd Date: 29 Apr 20 - 12:12 AM Well, not the cassette exactly, but I found a video of the group from 1988 at the National Irish Fair in Los Angeles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HduWEJHyUnU. Maybe they played some of the same songs from the cassette? I know it's not the same but it's a start. Members from the video include: Richard Gee - Vocals & Guitar Sue Guiney - Vocals & Guitar Mark Romano - Mandolin & Vocals Suzanne Gee - Bodhrán I also found 3 songs from the album this time: The Gypsy Rover Mommy Singing Skibbereen Barney Rush The poster, "Aisling Guiney" is probably one of the original members of the group -- you can try posting a comment on the YouTube video and asking her if she could share the rest with you. Short of cost-based web-stalking services, I couldn't find any *public* contact links for them. BUT, if you search their names on Facebook I was able to find a few of them. Just look for one in California. To be honest I don't feel comfortable giving out their public facebook accounts though, so I'll leave you to find that and message them on your own. |
