Subject: Yorkshire Mudgather From: Dave the Gnome Date: 19 May 20 - 04:44 AM The sad passing of Micca set me thinking about past Mudgathers. When this virus crisis is over, how about one in Skipton, Yorkshire? Lovely place with good transport links and a short bus ride for me :-) Next spring/summer? Who would be up for it? |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: GUEST,Susanne (skw) Date: 19 May 20 - 05:39 AM I'd love to go if it fits with my travel timetable. But I've no hopes to get to Britain this year. Thinking of all my friends there, though! |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: Doug Chadwick Date: 19 May 20 - 06:00 AM Sorry Susanne .... with an 's', not a 'z'. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: Dave Hanson Date: 19 May 20 - 06:06 AM Interested. Dave H |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: Joe G Date: 19 May 20 - 06:18 AM Possibly. Would Leeds be more central for people if we have anyone there who could arrange. I'm in York now so Skipton a bit of a trek but might be able to make it anyway if it was there |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: cujimmy Date: 19 May 20 - 11:43 AM I would be interested, and Leeds would be very convenient, Skipton ok also. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: Mr Red Date: 19 May 20 - 11:55 AM I have a friend in Keighley so I might take in a round trip. Long way from the west country. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: Doug Chadwick Date: 19 May 20 - 12:26 PM I fancy Skipton more than Leeds but I would go with the flow. DC |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: peteglasgow Date: 19 May 20 - 12:54 PM microwave Dave's restaurant - Brophy's - in the middle of Skipton? and woolly sheep/cock and bottle? |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: Dave the Gnome Date: 19 May 20 - 02:01 PM Brody's. The folk club is currenty at the Narrow Boat and it is a good room - I can ask if that could be used as the folk club is on Mondays. But let's not get too far ahead :-) |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: Dave the Gnome Date: 19 May 20 - 02:09 PM Oh, and Chez Gnome has 2 spare double beds and 3 singles. Plus I can pitch a tent on the front lawn. Mind you, I may have to do some smooth talking to Mrs G ;-) |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: Backwoodsman Date: 19 May 20 - 02:14 PM I could probably be persuaded! ;-) |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: peteglasgow Date: 19 May 20 - 03:57 PM i have a friend who has a house in japan and one in skipton, by the royal shepherd. i have been there many times and, though in yorkshire, it is a pleasant town. the highlight for me is the Sound Bar - a 2nd hand vinyl shop and bar, very appealing to guys of a certain age. but who knows what entertainments will survive this government. We got married from jap dave's house at the registry office there 20 odd years back. i'm always more than a happy for an excuse to go there |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: Dave the Gnome Date: 19 May 20 - 06:00 PM The sound bar is great. A couple of good new micro pubs have opened recently too. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: Bainbo Date: 20 May 20 - 06:30 AM As I was thinking about trips around the UK post-lockdown, it crossed my mind that I hadn’t been to Skipton Castle for years and I wouldn’t mind going back. Not immediately post-lockdown - I’ll still be practising social distancing. So, although I haven’t been a very active member of Mudcat for a while, I wouldn’t mind a sidle along. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: Nick Date: 20 May 20 - 08:01 AM Possibility |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: Dave the Gnome Date: 20 May 20 - 08:35 AM Skipton castle is lovely. We have annual tickets that run out this month I think. I guess they will suspend them until the crisis is over. If not we may not renew them anyway. Our grandsons always wanted to go when they were with us but they have not asked for ages. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: Eric the Viking Date: 20 May 20 - 09:04 AM The Yorkshire Dales railway at Embsay is just down the road. Steam ! |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: Richard Mellish Date: 20 May 20 - 10:16 AM Doug Chadwick said "You can put me down as a definite maybe." I'm a definite qualified maybe. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: Dave the Gnome Date: 20 May 20 - 11:31 AM And the KWVR, Eric. We are well blessed with preserved railways :-) |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: John MacKenzie Date: 20 May 20 - 11:44 AM I spy a camp site at top of town too. |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: bradfordian Date: 21 May 20 - 06:41 PM Yes interested. It was at a Yorkshire Mudgather where I had the good fortune to meet Micca and many other wonderful ‘catters |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: Joe G Date: 21 May 20 - 06:50 PM The Narrow Boat is a fine pub indeed with lots of excellent beer. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: JHW Date: 22 May 20 - 05:44 AM Agree Narrow Boat fine. Been to FC many a time, 70miles for me. Good FC at Keighley too. Depends on pub and club reopening one day. Never been to a mudgather. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: GUEST,Felipa Date: 22 May 20 - 10:19 AM possibly - I like the area, but it's a long trip for me |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Mudgather From: JHW Date: 22 May 20 - 03:43 PM Just thought again, most folkies are trying to do things on line. Mudcat always was but here's mudcatters looking to meet off line! |
