Julie Fowlis - Ceòl aig Baile is a music series that takes place at an extraordinary time in our history. The series gives musicians, deprived of playing live concerts, a virtual stage and an opportunity to perform directly from their homes to viewing fans.

Julie Fowlis -Ceòl aig Baile builds on that, inviting musicians from Scotland, Ireland, Europe, Canada and the US to connect with fans and to perform in a visceral way, appealing to feelings as much as intellect. Each half hour episode will feature six tracks of music and each programme is given to a pair of musicians to curate.

Between the musical tracks, the musicians reveal a little about their locale and situation and can tell their own story, or simply introduce the songs and music, explaining why the song or track is relevant to the moment. An innovative musical format, Julie Fowlis - Ceol Aig Baile gives music a new platform.

Thanks for mentioning this - I hadn't heard about it, and it sounds super. BBC Alba is so often a great refuge, though I don't know more than a few words of Gaelic.

But when is it on? I can still get it as an 'other' channel on Sky but prog details are no longer available in Ireland!

The 4th [ I think ] programme was broadcast last night- Mon.8th June - at 11.25pm. I'm not at all sure you can get it in Ireland, - you would have to go through BBC iPlayer - but would love to be proved wrong on that.

The next episode, 5, is on BBC Alba 22.00 hours Thursday 11.6.20 and then it is repeated at 23.30 Monday 15.6.20

As I said I definitely do get BBC Alba on Sky as an 'other channel' which I have tuned into.
