I know it's not blues or folk, but I know that someone on the 'Cat can help. A friend of mine has had the sixties or seventies song that goes 'Ooh, Ooh child, things are gonna get easier, ooh ooh child things'll get brighter' running through her brain for awhile and was wondering who did it. Does anyone know?

A black group did it but I can't remember their name. Also, Valerie Carter, who was involved with Jackson Browne for a while, did it ... moonchild

I checked all music . com and they had a listing but they called it Ooh Child { just one Ooh } . According to them it was a hit for The 5 Stairsteps. But they also listed that it was recorded by Valerie Carter, the Spinners and Nina Simone and others. I just wonder how Nina did it. Hmmmmm.

i dont know the answer to you question, but i must tell you that my band (if you want to call it that) have made it into somthing which we consider to be folk-y. we started with ohhh ohh child and then went into our won lyrics via bob marly style guitar and cello and fiddle and bongos...(don't ask it's what we got....while using ohhh ohh child as the chorus (just a few lines) and then went into No Woman---nNo Cry and got a billion pasts going:

ohhhh chld thigs are gonna get easier--ohhhoh ohh child things'll get brighter

no woman no cry---no woman no cry

oh ah--oh ah (al those uhhh sounds)

everythings gonna be alright (3x)

AND ANTHING ELSE THAT SOMEHOW GETS ADDED

it's really fun and if you like the songs you should give it a try...we end up with something different with every gig and usually everyone there knows a part to add in...

Something happened, anyway, they did it pretty much the same way except both did it in a way that was all to themselves & each did a grand job of it too. Barry
