Subject: Lyr Req: Cackling hen From: jacko@nz Date: 25 Aug 20 - 08:29 PM I was asked if I could help with the words for a song or rhyme that includes the following : ‘Nor it ain’t the hen that cackles the most that lays the bonniest egg Sitting in the hay, cackling all the day Doing what the other hennies do All they do is cock-a-doodle-doo" I did't have and have tried countless leads with no success. Can anyone out there help? Thanks, Jack |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Cackling hen From: Steve Gardham Date: 26 Aug 20 - 10:48 AM Yes, sung by Minnie, 1870-1954. Kilgarriff dates it to 1893, but doesn't give any writer info. |
